One might think that the powers that be over at Marvel would have been as bummed out as the Avengers in the picture above when their big Avengers: Age of Ultron marketing crossover plan for this Tuesday’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode blew up in their faces. Nobody expected the trailer to be leaked almost an entire week early. At best we were hoping for a leak on Tuesday morning, wink-wink, say no more. We discussed what they might do in the trailer leak aftermath yesterday and it looks like we were right!

Marvel tweeted this earlier today to highlight their decision on what to do in the wake of the trailer leak.

Marvel was very pleased with the reception and attention the leaked, and then official trailer received from the Internet.

In just 24 hours, the first Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer racked up an astonishing 34.3 million global views, smashing the previous record by over 20 million views in the same time period. What film held the previous record? Why, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3,” of course. Only Tony Stark can outdo Tony Stark.

But, to be honest, we couldn’t do it without you. Marvel fans around the globe helped drive this unprecedented level of excitement and exuberance for the film, slated to hit theaters May 1, 2015. So a hearty thanks from the House of Ideas.

Now what is their plan going forward? It looks like Marvel choose option three and will air additional footage and promote that footage to give AOS that ratings bump the original planned trailer premiere would have provided.

And because we believe that the best way to say thanks is to give you more, we’re delivering new Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” action to your TV sets, two weeks in a row! Tune in to “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” this Tuesday, October 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC to see an exclusive piece from Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Then, on Tuesday, November 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC, tune into “Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!” for another taste of Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”–and much more!

So now we’re getting additional footage, most likely the SDCC 2014 Marvel Panel footage, this Tuesday. I can’t believe that the following Tuesday footage in the Marvel 75 Years: Form Pulp to Pop wasn’t already planned and set to be announced this Tuesday after the trailer was expected to air, but it still fits into the plan nicely.

Perhaps we’ll get some behind the scenes look at the Avengers:Age of Ultron production, maybe James Spader in Motion Cap gear or something about Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch? At this point we cares as long as they keep bringing us more!
