Three more thespians have heeded the mighty call of Wakanda with the addition of Forest Whitaker (Rogue One), Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario) and Florence Kasumba (Captain America: Civil War) to the upcoming Marvel

Already cast are Michael B. JordanLupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke with Ryan Coogler (Creed) directing.  Coogler is pulling double duty with Joe Robert Cole on the screenwriting as well.

Variety broke the news of the Forest Whitaker Black Panther casting. Officially, he is playing an elder statesman of Wakanda named Zuri. In the comics Zuri is a warrior in his own right and one of T’Challa’s most trusted allies. Poor Forest Whitaker, this guy just can’t catch a break. Whitaker is going from one co-starring role in the upcoming Disney property Rogue One to another co-starring role in another Disney property with Black Panther. Let’s all say a prayer for the guy.

TheWrap adds that Kasumba will be reprising her role from Captain America: Civil War as Ayo, T’Challa’s head of security. Who can forget that awesome scene between Black Widow and Ayo as she essentially tells Black Widow, “What’s up now!?” The character also recently got some recognition in the Marvel comic book series Black Panther: World of Wakanda, alongside her partner both work-wise and in the romantic sense, Aneka. It’s also a fun little piece of trivia to note that Kasumba will also be seen as Senator Acantha in the upcoming DC Universe film, Wonder Woman. One actress, two comic book Universes. Our heads are exploding!

Lastly, Kaluuya will take on the role of W’Kabi, T’Challa’s right hand man and, in the comics, Wakandan Chief of Security. Kaluuya was seen earlier this year in the critically acclaimed Benicio Del Toro film Sicario.

As of now, the Black Panther casting is looking amazingly solid. Some great catnip until the films debut and we can’t wait to get our claws into it.

Black Panther arrives February 16, 2018.
