Having quietly made a name for himself with the NBC drama Law & Order: LA and the Netflix American adaption of House Of Cards, few thought Corey Stoll could get any cooler. And that’s what they get for underestimating Corey Stoll, who not only went on to star in Guillermo Del Toro’s creepily effective The Strain, but has been cast as Yellow Jacket in the ‘Ant-Man’ movie. Though admitting not being familiar with the character, he says the script was great and keeps getting better. The New York native studied acting at NYU and Tisch School Of The Arts. He’d better had studied villainy and butt-kicking somewhere too, because Yellow Jacket is a major Ant-Man foe and needs to be delivered correctly for the movie to succeed. Keep on going for all things Stoll wearing yellow tights.

Stoll confirms the humorous aspect of the story and calls on many ridiculous situations one might get into when reduced to the size of an ant. Prepare for a few ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ moments of ensued hilarity. On his costume, he says it is an “ongoing process,” so I’m feeling like the jury is still out on how they want the character to look.

“That’s really…that’s still an ongoing process,I think unfortunately…well, maybe fortunately, in terms of my comfort feeling. For [actual shooting], I think I’ll be wearing a lot of mo-cap spandex.”

I don’t mind the end tweaking because I want them to get it right. And Stoll is a great actor and a cool score for Marvel. I’m not sold on his comedy stylings but if Robert DeNiro has taught me anything, it’s that great actors can play great characters. Nobody expected Don Vito Corleone to be a funny guy until ‘The Freshman’ came out, so Stoll up against star Paul Rudd can turn out to be really fun.

Word has it that Darren Cross is a colleague of Hank Pym’s and steals the Pym Particles that allow Ant-Man his powers, becoming Yellow Jacket. We nerds also know that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang steals Pym’s Ant-Man suit and becomes the new Ant-Man. WHY THE HELL DOESN’T PYM GUARD HIS PRICELESS BELONGINGS MORE CLOSELY?? That’s unacceptable! But, in the right light, it can be hilariously funny. I’m hoping for the best from this film and I trust everybody involved in it.

Barring any more unforeseen issues with the production of this film, look for Corey Stoll to appear in Ant-Man on July 17th 2015.
