If this goes on much longer, I’m officially not going to give two shits if the movie comes out or not. If you’re just coming in late, Ray Stantz himself, Dan Aykroyd, is working in earnest on the script for the off-again, on-again Ghostbusters 3. A while back, you might remember, Bill Murray shat upon an earlier draft from Year One and The Office’s Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg in an interview.
While promoting his Crystal Head Vodka, Aykroyd downplayed Murray’s comments and sounded almost inhumanly optimistic about the film’s future.
I think [Bill Murray] was concerned that the writing on Ghostbusters 3 by these guys would not be up to standard, but I can tell you firsthand, I’m working on the script now and those two—Stupnitsky and Eisenberg—wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it…we have a strong first draft that Harold [Ramis] and I will take back, and I’m very excited about working on it.
Maybe I just can’t process such chipper optimism because I am a black-hearted curmudgeonly bastard, but by the time this all happens, will anyone still care? When the Ghostbusters game came out, there was a lot of talk about how that game was essentially Ghostbusters 3.
Wake me up when it’s ready. Bah!
What about you? Sound off in the comments.
