With perhaps one of the most expansive mythologies of all time, Star Wars has been more than deserving of the theme park treatment. So with last year’s announcement of a Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Disney World, it’s pretty much needless to say that Star Wars fans are already prepared to throw even more money at the Mouse House.  The park isn’t likely to open for a few years, but the hype behind it isn’t likely to die off any time soon. Among the attractions confirmed are a Milenium Falcon attraction, a Battle Escape attraction, and a few shops and restaurants for good measure. This sounds amazing enough, but in the words of every generic infomercial host: “that’s not all!”

Disney recently announced on their Disney Parks Blog that in addition to Star Wars Land, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be receiving all new fireworks and stage shows. Unlike Star Wars Land, these shows will be coming sooner than you think. One of these shows is an incredibly advanced fireworks display called Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. It will open this summer and include fireworks, pyrotechnics and other special effects and is sure to be the textbook definition of eye candy.

Coming even sooner is another show is called Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away. This stage show will use costumed cast members to re-enact several scenes from the film series. It will involve characters like Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and, of course, ole’ Chewbacca himself. If it’s anything like the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, then we’re in for yet another live Lucasfilm treat. This show is set to make its debut on April 4.

While Star Wars Land is still years, these new shows are sure to wet our appetites in the meantime. Moreover, it is bound to give Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter a run for its money. If you thought drinking butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks wasn’t enough to give you a massive fangasm, just imagine seeing live lightsaber battles on the same vacation. If you’re as excited as we are, you should probably start saving up for plane tickets.
