Do You Want A Green Hornet Sequel?

Well, too bad. At least that’s what producer Neal H. Moritz says. While promoting the upcoming 21 Jump Street big screen travesty adaptation, he was asked about the likelihood of a second outing for Kato and the other guy.

“The movie did almost $250 million and was actually very well liked, but we made the movie for too much money. One, we made it in L.A. for certain reasons, and two, we decided to go to 3D — that added another $10 million. If I had done it in a tax-rebate state and not done 3D, it would have been considered a huge financial success for the studio. So we’re not making a sequel.”

Really, when you think about it it was lucky the first one was even made. If my fuzzy memory is to be believed, they first started talking about a big screen adventure for wealthy young publisher Britt Reid and his Asian partner and confidant back after the release of Tim Burton‘s Batman and let’s not think about how long ago that was or we’ll all feel old.

Personally, I might be one of the few that wouldn’t mind a second movie. Sure Seth Rogen and Jay Chou were very different takes on the characters and the movie was clumsy in parts, but hell… it wasn’t that bad, was it? Maybe I just have fond memories of the flick because I saw in on date night and it was a choice between Green Hornet or some soul crushing rom-com staring Jennifer Aniston (shudder). It may not have been great, but it was far from the worst comic book movie ever.

That was Catwoman.

Wow, kind of got off on a tangent there. Sorry about that.

In closing. Seth Rogen can get fat again, the chances for a second Green Hornet movie are slim.
