What’s up bastards! Here we are with the first Tuesday for the month of October and it seems business is picking up as we got five movies that we either recommend as a BUY, RENT, or a PASS. Two of the movies are reboots in which one may be worth watching and the other can just burn for its existence (you’ll see what I did there). We also have another movie that may be worth your time, one that is just there, and another that has the concept of ass to mouth.

That’s not it folks as we have what may be the most STACKED list of Old Movies Are New. How stacked you ask? Well it’s a list of 31 releases and I’m sure there is something you wouldn’t mind upgrading the hi-def version of. We also got the TV Show DVD section that consist not only two Syfy shows but a Doctor Who animated feature. So what are you waiting for? Check what came out after the jump and see if there is something you want!

The Human Centipede (First Sequence)

During a stopover in Germany in the middle of a carefree roadtrip through Europe, two American girls find themselves alone at night when their car breaks down in the woods. Searching for help at a nearby villa, they are wooed into the clutches of a deranged retired surgeon who explains his mad scientific vision to his captives’ utter horror. They are to be the subjects of his sick lifetime fantasy: to be the first to connect people, one to the next, via their gastric system, and in doing so bring to life ‘the human centipede.’

Starring: Ashley C. Williams, Ashlynn Yennie, and Dieter Laser
Directed by Tom Six (Gay in AmsterdamHoneyz)

Yes folks, the awesome movie with the concept of ass to mouth is finally available for purchase. While it may have not gotten many good reviews by the “pro” critics, I think movies with ideas like this should at least be supported in some form or another. So give this film a try and figure out yourself what position you would like if you were in a “human centipede.”

The Karate Kid

12-year-old Dre Parker could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying—and the feeling is mutual—but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts “the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has no one to turn except maintenance man Mr. Han, who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

Starring: Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith, and Taraji P. Henson.
Directed by Harald Zwart (
Agent Cody Banks, One Night at McCool’s)

So who would have thought that this film would be pretty good? It shocked me as well as  fellow NerdBastards, Zach (in which you can read his review here). If your looking for a good family movie and see Jackie Chan do some acting, then give this film a chance as it may be worth your time watching this. The film does comes with its fair share of extras including a few that is narrated by Chan and an alternative ending to check out.

Available: Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo,  DVD

A dark vision of the world of genetic engineering in which two young scientists become superstars by splicing different animal DNA to create fantastical new creatures. Ignoring legal and ethical boundaries, the scientists, who are romantically involved, introduce human DNA into their experiment and risk the dawn of a terrifying new era.

Starring: Adrien Brody, Delphine Chanéac, and Sarah Polley.
Directed by Vincenzo Natali (
Cube, Cypher)

Looking for a film that could kill about 100 minutes and is enjoyable? Splice may be able to do that as it is a sci-fi horror that at least deserves a rent as the story and concept of the film is a good one. As far as extras goes, it only list a feature about the set thus why this title easily gets a RENT label.

Available: Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo, DVD

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Nancy, Kris, Quentin, Jesse and Dean all live on Elm Street. At night, they’re all having the same dream–of the same man, wearing a tattered red and green striped sweater, a beaten fedora half-concealing a disfigured face and a gardener’s glove with knives for fingers. And they’re all hearing the same frightening voice…one by one, he terrorizes them within the curved walls of their dreams, where the rules are his, and the only way out is to wake up.

Starring: Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner,  and Rooney Mara.
Directed by Samuel Bayer (This is film debut, has directed MANY music videos)

So yeah, you shouldn’t even need to be told to not watch this film. Hell, if you want reasons not to, then check out Zach’s review on the flick. While Haley may have portrayed Freddy in an awesome, creepy way, it was still not enough to save the film. If you still want to check the film out, it does have the “maniac movie mode,” in which the film will air the alternative opening and ending as well as the deleted scenes is added on to the film so that the nightmare lasts longer.

Available: Blu-Ray, DVD

30 Days of Night: Dark Days

It’s been almost a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow’s population was decimated by vampires during its annual month-long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith, the vampire queen responsible for the assault on Stella’s sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.

Starring: Kiele Sanchez, Rhys Coiro, Diora Baird, Harold Perrineau, and Mia Kirshner.
Directed by Ben Ketai (Was a Producer for The Grudge 2)

Hey look, it’s a sequel to a movie that was pretty much okay. While they have added boobs to the film, in which Diora Baird will bring in the Ds in Dark Days and so will the other ladies. The film doesn’t do anything new to the genre so if you enjoyed the first film, then give the film a chance. Other wise, you can go ahead and pass on this direct to DVD film.
