The world of gaming has maintained consistency in its forward evolution. The invention of enhanced technology has delivered more exciting video games for popular console !platforms Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. The Google corporation’s marketing team has kept a finger firmly on the pulse of these industry giants and decided that it’s time to throw their hats in the ring and offer a video game platform of their own. Enter, Google Yeti!

What is Google Yeti?

Google Yeti is in the works and it is designed to become Google’s “Netflix for Games.” The services will offer video games that are hosted on their remote servers. Access to the games will be possible via hardware that allows streaming to a television. The service will be available through subscription that is similar to current gamer services offered through XBox Live and PlayStation already. This is Google’s answer to these popular providers who are doing well in their endeavors. They offer access to the entire collection for subscribers, but what that will entail has yet to be seen.

What does Google plan to deliver that’s new?

Google’s new gaming console is intended to revolutionize home gaming with the new web streaming option that is already in use by PlayStation Now. This leaves us with the question of what they could possibly have up their sleeves if they’re entering the video gaming market that is already well established. When they use the word “revolutionize” it implies they’re going to bring some new innovations into play. What we know so far is that they plan to implement their service through ChromeCast and they will be making use of their cloud servers to broadcast their internet based games.

Will Yeti feature it’s own game series?

There has been no word from Google about whether or not they will develop games that are specific to their new console, or what those would be. Aside from the small tidbits that Google has shared in their minimal media releases, all we really know at this time is that they are planning to deliver access to multliple streamed games. Guessing how this new venture will unfold is much like attempting to put a puzzle together with only half of the pieces.

When will Google Yeti officially launch?

Google execs have not yet disclosed when Yeti will officially launch. We learned that Google has hired former PlayStation and Xbox executive Phil Harrison as their new VP and General Manager. Despite murmurings that the rumors about Google Yeti are a hoax, we’re told told that Yeti is a project that is actually currently under development. We can only assume that it is in its early infancy stages and that we’ll hear more as developers get closer to project completion.

Google’s entrance into the video gaming industry is rumored to be a move that will revolutionize the home gaming industry. With a limited amount of information available, all we have is speculation about how the new “Netflix for gamers” subscription service will take shape. It gives us something to look forward to and until more information is available, keep your ear to the ground for updates.
