I may be one of a small crowd when it comes to my opinion on the X-Men: First Class sequel, but I am totally jazzed about the impending arrival of X-Men: Days of Future Past.  It is one of my favorite storylines and I’m very happy they’re making it into a film.  And I’m double-plus-mega-happy that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are coming back to reprise their roles as the old-fogey versions of Professor X and Magneto.

One other person is happy about returning to the sequel, and that is Sir Ian McKellen himself.  In a brief interview with The Huffington Post, he had a few things to say…

About wanting to reprise the role:

What a gas! I mean, Patrick Stewart and I have been have just been playing “Waiting for Godot” throughout England and in the West End of London. So, we’ve stayed in touch. We can’t believe it [laughs]. I thought these were Fassbender and McAvoy’s parts, but — no, no — we’re back. We’ll give them a run for their money. I mean, I haven’t read the script, so I don’t know how much we’ve got to do. But, to be back in that world, and for Bryan to be doing it — with all the success he’s had in the meantime — it’s wonderful.

And about his opinions of Michael Fassbender as Magneto in First Class:

I thought he was better than me. But, we weren’t quite playing the same character because he was so much younger than me.

And, unfortunately, that’s about all the Post got out of him.  But at least we are likely to hear a lot more in the future as X-Men: Days of Future Past draws nearer to its scheduled release date of July 18, 2014.
