If you thought that only theme parks could be interactive, think again. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment , the company that has brought movie and TV enthusiasts classics like: The Simpsons, Family Guy, X-Men,Star Wars and other pieces of nerdy goodness, has announced that they will be creating a one of a kind shopping experience with the help of their partner Taubman Centers.

Taubman Centers, a real estate investment trust in charge of development, management and leasing of different shopping centers around the U.S., has signed on for a year-long exclusive contract with Twentieth Century in an industry first innovation.  Mary Daily, President & CMO WW Marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment says:

“The Fox Movie Mall virtual storefronts are a truly unique experience for mall visitors. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to reach consumers and this technological advancement has allowed us to further engage with them by offering a convenient and fast way to get the movies they love.”

The Fox Movie Mall virtual storefront will allow the average person who has an Android or iPhone to shop with ease with a simple Stop, Scan and Shop. The Fox Movie Mall App, available on both the Android Market and iTune Store, will allow shoppers to pick a film title on the virtual wallscape, scan a QR code and instantly be taken to their online purchase without the fuss of waiting in line. Those who decide to download and launch the app will get an added bonus of savings. Fox Movie app users can save up to 50% on their purchases along with their access to additional games, trailers, movie and TV clips along with much more.

On March 16,two days from now, Twentieth Century and Taubman Centers will kick off the opening of their stores across the country, which will include home entertainment lounges in central locations with state-of-the-art HDTVs showcasing footage from the upcoming ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED Blu-ray™ along with many other family-friendly films courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Additionally, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED will be fully integrated into the Easter Bunny Set at participating mall locations.

Glenda Cole, Vice President, Sponsorship & Center Marketing for Taubman said:

“As the finest collection of retail real estate in America, we are always looking for partnerships with premium brands that enhance the shopping experience for our customers. We welcome the addition of Fox’s multifaceted programming that entertains and rewards our shoppers and gives them a new, convenient way to shop for home entertainment products.”
While we’ve all seen and used our different electronic devices to take advantage of online deals, this could be the start of a purely electronic and easy way to make shopping that much easier. In state of waiting in long lines, which I detest and I’m sure you’ve dealt with it as well, shopping for our favorite sitcoms or movies could be done in a matter of seconds. Yet despite being interactive and seemingly-easy mode of purchasing, will it last in the current market? That will be a topic for another time or better left for the comments section. Otherwise, send us a photo of the store of tell us what you think of it on our FB page or comment below.
