While Ben Affleck will be doing appearances and press for Warner Bros. Justice League this weekend, word is making the Internet rounds that the powers that be at WB are planning on gracefully recasting Affleck from the role for future movies. Now this isn’t to say that Affleck might still don the cowl for one more movie after Justice League, but going forward Warner Bros. is most likely already looking for another actor.

The writing is pretty much on the wall. Once Affleck stepped down from directing the script he co-wrote with Geoff Johns and then Matt Reeves stepped in as director and decided to dump that script and write his own, how much Affleck would be involved, or want to be involved, came into question.

Now Reeves has said:

Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can.

That being said, Reeves is also kicking around a Batman trilogy which means that Affleck, who is 45, would be around 50 when The Batman comes out. Throw in two more films and that puts Affleck is his mid to late fifties which unless Reeves intends to do an older Batman story line like The Dark Knight Returns, that a younger actor might make more sense, or perhaps a passing of the torch from Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne to a younger actor playing Dick Grayson in the second or third film.

Older fans have already been through plenty of Movie Batman casting changes as the role went through Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and finally Affleck, so any upcoming change won’t be that much of a shock.

How many more Batman films do you think Affleck will do?
