It’s Official – “Constantine” Gets Canned

Unfortunately included in a string of series cancellations from NBC, the plug has been pulled on Constantine. After the network declined to order more episodes after its initial 13, both NBC and Warner Brothers assured us that a second season was not an impossibility, and that the fate of the snarky occult detective/professional sorcerer was simply up in the air. It seems the season 2 pitches didn’t impress, however, and the show was axed.

Not all hope is lost, though. Constantine executive producer Daniel Cerone tweeted about finding a new home for the series:

Whispers of Syfy picking up the show turned out to contain no validity, but Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva piqued our interest with this quote:

“I hear there could be a future for the show, even a potential broadcast play — what do you think of this monster mash: Lucifer, Frankenstein and Constantine under one roof?!”

All clues lead to FOX being the network in question on that one, being as they just picked up The Frankenstein Code and have a pilot in the works for the DC-comics based Lucifer. The twitter-verse also seems to think the CW should be a consideration.

With all the support rallying behind Constantine, a new home can’t be too hard to find. The high budget of the series will be an obstacle, but the show definitely seems like it would be right at home among the supernatural themed programs currently populating the FOX network.
