2846551A few weeks ago, you might remember I wrote a little bit about the Hanna-Barbera live-action Legends of the Superheroes shows from 1979. Much to my genuine amazement, Warner Archive is actually offering the shows on DVD for just under 20 clams.

I really have to hand it to Warner. The Warner Archive program offers DVD-on-demand services that give film buffs the chance to see stuff that otherwise would never see the light of day on DVD. Granted, there aren’t any extras, and they aren’t remastered, but you at least get to see it. In this case, you can see it without having to shell out money for a multiple-generation-removed VHS-to-DVD transfer.

sinestroThat said, Warner Archive has this disclaimer:

Important Note: This film has been manufactured from the best-quality video master currently available and has not been remastered or restored specifically for this DVD and Digital Download release.

It does allow you to see a sample of the video quality so you’re not flying blind. It actually looks pretty good. Better than copies I’ve seen in the past.

And really, do you really need to see Charlie Callas as Sinestro in exacting detail?
