Ahoy fans of Spider-Man, and old guys with grey hair. Have we got some news for you.  Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The Departed, Catch Me If You Can) has been cast as Peter Parkers Uncle Ben, in Marc Webbs 3D Spider-Man reboot.

Fans of Spider-Man will tell you that Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man (the identity, the is) after the death of his Uncle, which Parker is loosely responsible for. I’m assuming here, but I think this might indicate that the reboot is going to be another origin story (*Yawn). I can’t imagine Columbia Pictures would hire this A-List actor for mere flashbacks.

Now as far as Sheen being cast, my opinion is that he is a fine choice. He looks the part, and has that sage type persona to him, which fits the bill for Uncle Ben.

Sheen joins a cast which so far includes Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Never Let Me Go) as Parker, Emma Stone (Superbad, Easy A) as love interest Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans (rumored) as, The Lizard.

What do you guys think of this casting choice. Please discuss!
