Now that The Avengers is just weeks away (not counting that whole world premiere thing that already happened) and by the looks of things is poised to dominate at the box office, Marvel Studios is already prepared to follow up with the further expansion of their movie universe.

The studios top man, Kevin Feige, has been gently releasing some info on the next wave of movies: Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 – which we all knew were coming, but apparently Guardians of the GalaxyAnt-ManDr. Strange and even The Inhumans are all in seeing some movement.

Your Marvel Movie Update is up after the jump.

Up first, what can we expect from Iron Man 3? Collider had a chance to ask Feige about the movie (which filming starts on very shortly) and he revealed a little bit about what writer/director Shane Black has planned.

“Iron Man 3 is a full-on Tony Stark-centric movie—and I’ll tell you because you’re a good guy—is very much inspired by the first half of Iron Man 1.  Metaphorically, we’re not going back to the cave there’s nothing like that, but we’ve always said let’s get Tony back to the cave, which is he’s stripped of everything, he’s backed up against a wall, and he’s gotta use his intelligence to get out of it.  He can’t call Thor, he can’t call Cap, he can’t call Nick Fury, and he can’t look for the Helicarrier in the sky.”

Good! The one thing that still concerns me about Marvels interconnected movie universe is they will slowly crush themselves under the weight of forcing that connection. Cameos and call backs and confusion. Knowing that it’s back to just being Stark (and not to mention who the bad guy will be) has me hopeful for this one.

In the same interview, Feige also let a little bit about the second Thor movie be known. Set to start filming in London in the summer with Alan Taylor as director, we’ll see a new villain and get the low-down on whats up in Asgard since the destruction of the Bifrost.

“Well [Thor’s maturity] is sort of the crux of the whole sequel and it’s what [Chris] Hemsworth is most excited about diving into, and it’s what is the heart of story; it’s Thor and Jane, to continue that dynamic. Really they were only together for three days, and do they love each other? Do they like each other? Do they know each other? We’re acknowledging that that love story in the first movie was sort of a quick crush, essentially, over the course of three quick days in the middle of the desert. And [the heart of the movie is also] the relationship between Thor and Odin, which does change drastically as it did over the course of the first movie, and picks up and continues from there.”

After the first one, I really had no idea where they could take things in the sequel. I’ll be honest, I am not entirely certain a big story about the personal life of a Norse god would be my first choice, but I am willing to give Marvel Studios the benefit of the doubt.

While there is still no info on who will be sitting in the directors chair, the second solo outing for Captain America definitely has a direction. Feige told the Huffington Post that Cap will have a sidekick in the movie, but was rather coy and evasive about who it would be. Start speculating now.

An easy guess would be that the star spangled man will have someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘kicking for him, since from what Feige told Collider the captain is going to be spending a lot of time with the government organization.

“The primary storyline takes place post-Avengers, Steve figuring out his place in the world. Tony goes back to Malibu, Thor goes back to Asgard, but there are a number of people who stay in S.H.I.E.L.D. Steve, for the time being, is going to be one of them.”

Any Marvel zombies out there want to chime in with their thoughts on who Cap’s new side kick could be? Is it possible that Bucky/Winter Soldier could be in the works?

and… the rest.

Marvel Studios still has an empty slot on its movie release schedule, and Feige did say we will know what will fill that hole before Comic-Con.

“I think whether it’s Ant-Man, or Dr. Strange, or The Inhumans, or The Guardians of the Galaxy… We are very excited about bringing things like that, maybe things exactly like that, to the screen. […] When you tell people, you know what would be really cool? This movie, and there’s a raccoon, and there’s a tree… And they go, ‘What?’ And people like you know what it is, and get excited. And the majority of people go, ‘Did you say a raccoon and a tree?’ ‘Oh yeah, they’re going to steal the whole movie. They’re hilarious.’ ‘Okay, I’ll believe it when I see it.’ I like that.”

From what he told Superhero Hype it’s a safe bet that it’ll be Guardians of the Galaxy even saying so much as to what the line-up of the team would be, “Yeah. It’s more Star-Lord and Drax and Gamora, and less Vance Astro and that team.” (damn, I liked Vance Astro).

Let’s have some fun now, what do YOU want to seen on the big screen from Marvel next? Who or what from their catalogue is fit for the big screen? Personal, and I am actually serious about this, I think ROM the Space Knight could kick a little ass, what say you?
