Coming off the string of TV cancellations that have sent everyone into a collective cry of “Noooooo!”, there comes some actual good news. Netflix has given Lost in Space season 2 financial backing and a hearty thumbs up!
In January 2016, Netflix had announced a 13-episode straight-to-series order for Lost In Space, a remake of sci-fi master Irwin Allen’s 1965 cult TV classic. Initial fan reaction was met with curious excitement (because, well, Netflix Yo!), as well as some pushback due to its progressive prerogative. In this updated version, not only are the The Robinson’s a bi-racial family but the lead villain gets gender swapped, with Parker Posey taking over as Dr. Smith, the overly dramatic and whiny saboteur of the story.
Concerns be damned! The reboot captured audiences the way the 1960s’ Lost in Space did while adding much more to the story and characters. The Robinson’s match with the original series in terms of names but represent a more hyper-modern take on the typical American family.
Netflix was particularly proud of this series that they’ve given the go-ahead for season 2. The news was announced via the official Lost in Space Twitter page.

This show is a true delight. It continually builds and rebuild suspense and elicits genuine feelings of panic and fear. It’s provocative, interesting, fun, and surprisingly heartfelt.
Come for the science fiction, stay for the sexy robot and to watch the Robinson’s science the shit out of every death defying ordeal thrown at them. Good god, Season 2 can’t come soon enough.
