Well if this is true, we’re gonna have a major geek-out moment on our hands. And, if you excuse the obligatory pun, this will give the character a huge boost. Who am I referring to? If you’re torn between wanting to know and knowing that there is no way to keep from finding out somehow between now and August 1st, then read on through if you dare.

A few days day ago, we reported a story from El Mayimbe, that hit-or-miss source of Latino Review. In which they claimed the Guardians of the Galaxy post credit scene would feature Richard Rider. For the uninitiated and comic book fan obscure, Rider is non other than the superhero NOVA. Originally a teenage kid from New York that ended up getting the power to become a human rocket; and is often boosting himself across the universe as a galactic protector.

Multiple sources are reporting, including Unleash The Fanboy, and The Escapist, that  former Captain Tightpants, Nathan Fillion will join the Marvel Cinematic universe as a live-action hero character. We even had a tease by the man himself back in April.

As far as we know this is just fan speculation, and we all know that fanboys want Fillion for anything and everything. If, however, this does turn out to be true then it appears the role will be small. Possibly as only as part of an Easter egg after the credits.

Could you see Fillion donning a Nova corps helmet and rocketing across the galaxy?

More on this story as it develops.

UPDATE: From the twitter of James Gunn (@JamesGunn):

First came this:

So he basically shoots down the Fillion/Nova role, but the in answer to a response to the above tweet Gunn says:

I can’t think of a time he did, but he also plays word games some times… Next a fan wanted to know if Fillion was even in the film.

“@STARS_TyranT: Are the rumours true that he has some part in the film?” @nathanfillion has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me.

So we will see Fillion, but he won’t be playing Nova. I’m gonna call it, Joss Whedon has given the OK for Captain Tight Pants to make a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s right, Nathan Fillion will be playing Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. I bet he is visiting the same station or something.
