Yesterday we looked at few characters from Marvel‘s past that would be appearing in the premiere episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Today there’s a fresh batch of production stills with a look at this season’s cast that includes new cast members Lucy Lawless, Nick Blood, and Henry Simmons. Click through to find out who their playing, what their characters will look like, and everything else going on with the return episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Let’s start off with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. teaser:

Next up is the official season two cast photo:

From left we’ve got: B.J. Britt who plays Agent Antoine (My grandaddy was a Howling Commando.) Triplett, Chloe Bennet as Agent (I’m an alien girl and don’t know it yet.) Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent (I’m still in a friend zone coma.) Leo Fitz, Ming-Na Wen as Agent (I kick ass and look good doing it.) Melinda May, Clark Gregg as Director (I’m in charge now bitches.) Phil Coulson, Nick Blood as Lance (British Super Secret Agent of S.T.R.I.K.E.) Hunter, Henry Simmons as Alphonso “Mac” (I’m taking Fitz’s place until he comes out of that coma) Mackenzie, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma (I’ll pull a scientific rabbit out of my hat to save the day when the writers paint us into a corner.) Simmons and Brett Dalton as Grant (I ain’t an Agent no more because I was always a bad guy who all the ladies hope will turn away from the Dark Side) Ward.

Here’s a gallery of brand new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Two Episode One production stills:

Yep, that’s Brian Patrick Wade (Teen Wolf)  above who will take on the role of Carl “Crusher” Creel, the Absorbing Man. I would imagine his origin will remain the same as the comics since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gone heavy with the inclusion of Asgardian characters. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) probably won’t make an appearance, although that would blow away many AOS fans, but I imagine Loki will still be the one making mischief by giving Absorbing Man his powers.

Lucy Lawless is playing Isabelle Hartley, who according to the comics was in a relationship with Agent Victoria Hand. Hand was killed by our resident turncoat Hydra Agent Ward who is now in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. I’m betting that Hartly wants to get a little payback for Hand. Can she get to Ward and do her dirty deed before Coulson and gang stop her?

Nick Blood is on board as the British equivalent of an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. as an Agent of S.T.R.I.K.E. (Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies). S.T.R.I.K.E. was introduced in Captain Britain Weekly #17:

Henry Simmons joins the cast as Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie. He’s a technical wizard when it comes to mechanics and first appeared in Nick Fury VS, S.H.I.E.L.D. # 3. Funny how we haven’t heard a peep from any of the Johnny Storm can’t be black internet crowd.

Will you be back to watch season 2? I have to admit that as much as I love this show, it kinda dragged out between the first episode and the last four of season one. If you could make it through those episodes, then it paid off big time in the last couple of episodes. I’m hoping that this new season will continue to raise the bar on the series as a whole.

What do you think about season two? What should happen and where should the series head?

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to the small screen September 23rd.
