As previously reported, Guy Pearce will play Peter Weyland, founder of the big bad evil corporation at the heart of the Alien movies, in Ridley Scott‘s upcoming kindasorta-prequel Prometheus. Clearly this is awesome and when the news broke I was already imagining Pearce as a evil Steve Jobs-esque megagenius that lays the foundation of the dark corporate dominated alien harvesting world we first saw in 1979.

The first teaser/viral video showing the character just hit the net, and it is better than anything I imagined.

Check it out after the jump.

[From the TED page for the video] Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.

Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.

Conceived and designed by Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof and directed by Luke Scott.

This also proves my long standing theory that tomorrows evils are today’s TED Talks.

Prometheus will hit theaters June 8, 2012.
