Quentin Tarantino. Many cinephiles follow his work and he is one of the most well-known film directors of the past and present. From the slave turned bounty hunter, to an iconic heist gone wrong, his stories are told through vision and film. His career is a very admirable one, considering he has also worked with many of Hollywood‘s best. Some of his star players are Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christoph Waltz. Tarantino has currently completed eight feature films and the word is that he will only do two more.

Quentin Tarantino has been saying for a few years now, that he only intends to direct ten films in his lifetime. We see that he is currently at eight because his Kill Bill franchise counts as one whole story. He recently had stopped at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and had a little bit to say about this topic during a screening of Pulp Fiction.

“I’m planning on stopping at ten. So it’ll be two more. Even if at 75, if I have this other story to tell, it would still kind of work because that would make those 10. They would be there and that would be that. But the one he did when he was an old fucking man, the geriatric one exists completely on its own in the old folks’ home and is never put in the same shelf next to the other 10. So it doesn’t contaminate the 10.”

As mentioned, he has spoke of this subject many times in the past and still seems to stick with his plan. As he accepted a lifetime achievement award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, he also let the world know a little, personal secret of his. He announced that his favorite character that he had ever written, was Col. Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds. This role was made famous by one Christoph Waltz, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor that year. “Landa is the best character I’ve written and maybe the best I ever will write.”

All this news is exciting to his fans, of course, but we are still unsure of any definite plots of what his next movies will be. There are rumors a 1930’s gangster movie set in Australia could be a possible choice and composer Ennio Morricone has also claimed he would like to work with Tarantino again. Most fans are going to now be in limbo waiting for his next idea, but as we know from his works, they are always extremely thought out he has to let them brew. The only thing we can say is, “Let’s go to work.”
