Comic book movies have turned into a really bad relationship with fans. Everywhere you turn, there’s disappointment. At one moment, it feels like Christmas, then the next, your heart is being torn out of your chest. This is one of those instances. So why is Wyatt walking away? It turns out he just doesn’t have time. Remember all those script issues that were being thrown around? Those issues have finally built up enough that it’s caused the movie to be pushed back and thus causing Wyatt to walk away. Here’s what he had to say about the matter,
“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”
A couple of thoughts pop into mind. First of all, how much was he going to regret not having to work with Fox? Probably not a whole lot, but that’s a minor point. The real concern is with Tatum. He was looking forward to making this movie with his buddy, and now that buddy won’t be there to keep him sane. Let’s not forget that Fox may be looking to make Gambit a prime time player since Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will be retiring soon. This movie feels likes it’s becoming more of an internal political/logistical problem than something that people genuinely wanted to make and see.
Also, whatever happens, it couldn’t be worse than this…
