Warner Bros panel at SDCC has been slaying it today. They’ve been a good guy studio releasing trailer after trailer minutes after airing at SDCC (being proactive against leaks). Coming close to the end of their panel, Warner Bros let loose the long awaited trailer for Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Based on the footage below, Hunnam seems to play a more regal version of Jax teller from Sons of Anarchy. Instead of motorcycles and mayhem, there’s Excalibur and mayhem.
In this retelling of the legend by director Guy Ritchie, Hunnam plays a much grittier Arthur than is usually seen. Instead of a chivalrous royal prince, he’s a rough and tumble fighter running around London with his crew completely unaware of his royal lineage. That is of course, until he pulls Excalibur from the stone and is confronted with the the truth of his past.
Ritchie has amassed a rather impressive cast including Game of Thrones stars Aidan Gillen and Michael McElhatton as well as Jude Law, Tom Wu, Eric Bana and Katie McGrath who is no stranger to the Arthurian legends having played Morgana in the British TV show Merlin. The film is set to release in March 2017.
