Its only been a few days since the release of the first sample packaging for the official Ecto Cooler tie in drink for the new Ghostbusters reboot whose can was suspiciously missing its long time mascot and kid friendly face of the franchise, Slimer. This lead the internet to believe this may have been some kind of confirmation that the lovable green spud might not make an appearance in the all female reboot. That is until today when star Michael K. Williams finally revealed his character in the film and that he does indeed share a scene with Simer.

Back in June, director Paul Feig released a picture of himself playing with a cup of slime on the set hinting at the ghosts return, which lead to even more rumors that we may well finally get to hear the little guy talk (cartoon series not withstanding) played by none other than Homer himself, Dan Castelenetta. That rumor has since been… wait for it… busted (see what I did there?). However, Williams finally revealed in an interview early today that yes, he does indeed share a scene with the worlds most famous overeating ghost.

“I’m not going to lie, working with Melissa (McCarthy), and Kristen (Wiig), and Kate (McKinnon), was really dope. But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I’m in a scene with Slimer! I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true.”

And while we have had plenty of information come down the pipeline on the new Ghostbusters Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), with the exception of Chris Hemsworth playing Kevin, the new secretary, very little has been revealed about the rest of the cast. In that interview, Williams finally opens up about his role in the reboot.

“I play the FBI agent who works for the mayor. Our whole thing is, we’re going to tell the people it was a flash in the sky and ‘Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.’ That was a dream job. They’re at the top of their game, man. I had the pleasure of working with Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon on a show on IFC called The Spoils Before Dying. So, I had a relationship with them already. Leslie Jones, you meet her once, you feel you’ve known her your whole life. She penetrates any walls or any barriers you may have, she goes right through that, right to your heart chakra. And Melissa, she’s just a gem. I have so much respect for these ladies because it’s hard on women in comedy. She’s doing it and she’s bringing in other women she thinks is just as equally talented as her. I’ve got a lot of respect for them.”

And we have exactly one week left until the release of the first official trailer for the film. It seems the marketing team is playing the long game with this one, slipping out details drop by drop to an audience that seems to be evenly split between people who seem to be okay with the idea and those who would prefer that anyone involved never make a film a again. Personally, I’ll go see it for the ensemble cast alone. But what about you, now that you know Slimer will be making an appearance, will that sway you to see Ghostbusters?
