Dark Tower fans, for one of the first times since the movie adaptation finally found a home at Sony, there is some good news on the horizon. After a bit of a casting misstep in the eyes of many fans and the addition of an absolutely superfluous new villain, not to mention the news that The Dark Tower film series will not begin with the first book in the series, The Gunslinger, Sony finally has made another great decision (the first, of course, being the master casting of Matthew McConaughey as The Man In Black), possibly two. It seems that two of Roland’s tet-mates may have been cast and if the news is to be believed, Eddie Dean and Jake Chambers have not only been found but, believe it or not, the casting is right on target. With Star Wars: The Force Awakens less than a year from being released, don’t be surprised to start hearing more about all those spin-off movies that Disney has in the pipe. The studio wants to start cranking out a Wars movie every year, place holders between each new chapter of the sequel trilogy, and already writers and directors have been lined up to oversee them. But what are they about? That’s the question all we eager fans want to know, and want to know now. One suggestion was a Han Solo prequel, and recently, someone even attached a name to the role of the young smuggler: Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul. According to Paul though, his playing Han Solo is news to him. (more…)
Next year after the release of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we will have more of an idea of where the franchise is going with Rian Johnson’s (The Brothers Bloom, Looper) Star Wars: Episode VIII and Episode IX going into pre-production . However, the films that will remain fairly elusive are the planned spin-offs, which will be released in between the J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson’s films. There are three projects – two which will be directed by Gareth Edwards, and one by Josh Trank – that could be potentially set at any point in the Star Wars timeline and could follow many different directions and branch out into an infinite number of stories. A rumor that has been running rampant the last couple of years, has been the speculation that one of the spin-offs could center on a Han Solo adventure, and the rumor has just been given a boost following a report that it is, in fact, true. Aside from being the son of a well-known film director, and for being an accomplished Academy Award-nominated filmmaker in his own right, Jason Reitman is perhaps most famous for his live stage readings of well-known screenplays at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Reitman has staged Ghostbusters and The Big Lebowski, in the past, but this month’s entry is truly ambitious: The Empire Strikes Back. As much as casting is tricky whenever one of these readings is mounted, it must be no easy task to fill the mythic shoes of Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams and Frank Oz. Reitman recently revealed who will play some of the key roles in his Empire reading, and in an interview he highlighted the reasons why he’s chosen the chosen ones. (more…)
Looking back on AMC‘s award winning Breaking Bad series, the only thing I regret not seeing is Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) singing. now we don’t have to imagine what it might have been like thanks to the folks over at Animeme and Toonocracy. They teamed up and produced this little animated video gem. (more…)
It’s been a while since any news of Ron Howard’s Dark Tower project has reached the Internetz. It’s been an on-again, off-again struggle to get this thing done, complicated by the fact that Howard is looking to turn it into a multi-movie/television series combo that will take some time (and money) to put together. But now it looks like there is a bit of headway being made and the information comes from an unexpected source – Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. (more…)
“Dude, what do you mean all the product has gone bad? LA Looks is supposed to last FOREVER!”
Aaron Paul has given up on crank and developed a need… a Need for Speed (Val Kilmer high five!).
He also seems to have developed a penchant for over-grand voiceovers in the first trailer for the upcoming vroom vroom epic, which also stars Dakota Johnson, beetlejuice… Beetlejuice… MICHAEL KEATON, the guy who played Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), Imogen Poots, and the equally well named quadrumvirate of Sir Maejor, Kid Cudi, Han Soto, and Chillie Mo.
