Following up on their success last year with the live to air The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer, NBC announced that their next musical theater revival would be the Charlap & Lee production of Peter Pan. Now we’ve already seen Girls star Allison Williams in costume as the titular lead, in keeping with the theatrical tradition of a woman playing the part of Peter, but now NBC has released its first image of Christopher Walken as the piece’s villain, Captain Hook. Walken will walk in the well worn books of Hook which have been put on by the likes of Hans Conried, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs, and Colin O’Donoghue. So how does he look? Well, look below to take a peak. (more…)
What was wrong with the last two Fantastic Four movies? Was it the casting? The script? The direction? Perhaps it was the location, which might help explain why 20th Century Fox is moving the production location of its upcoming Fantastic Four reboot from Vancouver, B.C. to Louisiana.
According to The Wrap, Fox has signed on the dotted line to bring the superhero project to the Bayou State because some sweet tax incentives the state’s legislature recently passed. Film production has been a huge boon to the area following the dual disasters of Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill, bringing hundreds of millions of dollars into a state that really needed the cast. Louisiana’s tax incentive for film and television production has also attracted the latest edition of Pirates of the Caribbean to the area. Both Pirates and the Fantastic Four have 2015 release dates.
So we know that Fantastic Four will start shooting in Louisiana sometime in September, and we know that Josh Trank (Chronicle) is directing, but who is going to play the four: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing? Well, rumors of Michael B. Jordan and Allison Williams remain, but they also remain rumors. Still, if the studio’s booking locations, then they must be confident that they’ll have a cast nailed down on time.
More news as it develops.

They say that it’s going to be release in March 2015, they say that production is scheduled to begin this coming June, but on this last day of April in 2013, we still don’t have even one cast member nailed down for Josh Trank‘s re-staging of the Fantastic Four. Well maybe that’s changing. Deadline is reporting that Allison Williams, co-star of the HBO Girls and daughter of NBC anchor and Daily Show punchline Brian Williams, is on the short list for a part in the film “I’ve heard Williams is also on the short for the Fantastic Four reboot, which is in the very early talking stage,” the site states.
By process of elimination, we can infer that Williams is most likely up for the role of Sue Storm, The Invisible Woman. The part was played by Jessica Alba in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer, so automatically the mere rumor of Williams playing the part is an improvement. If casting news is leaking, then maybe we should expect some hard casting news soon.
Anyway, what do you Bastards think? Would Williams make a good Invisible Woman, or do you have different casting ideas?
