The moderator called him “Canada’s favorite son,” but really Nathan Fillion was treated more unto a god at the National Fan Expo in Toronto Saturday. The people offered him tributes, words of praise and thanks, and in return he awarded the lucky few (hundreds) who were able to attend his early morning Q&A with more than several very funny anecdotes about the enduring appeal of Firefly, his veteran hit detective series Castle, and his admiration for one Benedict Cumberbatch. als Ice Bucket Challenge
Just when you thought the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge fad (a good charitable fad that has served its purpose in raising ALS awareness, but still, a fad) is behind us, Doctor Who and Guardians of The Galaxy star Karen Gillan answered Matt Smith’s Nomination and keeps the awareness and cold water flowing.
Everyone’s favorite red head (her hair is growing back nicely) gets style points for dressing up as the Pink Power Ranger and having the Red Ranger and a little person dressed as the Green Ranger get her wet (no, that was not a sexual innuendo). While we’ve seen Henry Cavill walking around the set in his super suit covered up with a robe, this time we have perhaps the best look so far at his Man of Steel costume for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Amy Adams is is her usual Lois Lane woman reporter vest and shirt. Separately they have been challenged to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and decided to do it together on set. (more…)

During last weekends Wizard World Chicago Comic Con Stan Lee made his usual appearance, although this time there was an added twist. Towards the end of Stan’s panel, Wizard World CEO John Macaluso challenged Stan Lee to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. You’d have to be Amish or living in a cave to not know what the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is so I won’t go into what it’s all about. Chris Pratt is living life using his Guardians of the Galaxy character Star Lord’s motto of doing, “Something good, something bad, a bit of both.” Let’s start with the bad. Back when principle filming completed on James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Chris “Sticky Fingers” Pratt made off with his Star Lord costume, a bit of bad, but he did it for all the right reasons. This is where the good comes in. Yesterday, Pratt made good on that promise he made to himself when he decided to swipe his Star Lord costume by visiting the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in full Star Lord duds. (more…)
