UPDATE: STORY BUSTED! The woman who appeared onstage this week claiming Andy Kaufman was alive–and that she was his daughter–is a New York City actress whose actual father is a Manhattan doctor, The Smoking Gun has learned. According to a source familiar with this week’s Kaufman stunt, Alexander Tatarsky met Michael Kaufman (Andy’s brother) earlier this year while working at a Manhattan gallery exhibiting a collection of Kaufman “ephemera and artifacts” from the comedian’s personal and professional life. Tatarsky was recruited by Michael to play the role of Andy Kaufman’s daughter to continue his legacy.
Andy you son of a bitch, even in death you got us again! Well played.
Below is our story as it was originally posted:
This week on The Bastarcast, Jeremy and Jason ponder Gangnam cosplay style, the plausibility of both warp drive and another Indiana Jones movie, and what a new PS3 model means for next generation consoles.
After HEADLINES, Jason plays an excerpt of his interview with Parks and Rec star Nick Offerman and then — on a thoroughly unrelated note — the boys take on the long and illustrious history of actors bashing their former projects (hat tip to Pajiba and writer Josh Kurp for inspiring the conversation).
Coming out of THE MAIN EVENT, Jason talks about stealing his living room and filling it with lightsabers while Jeremy is convinced that he is the center of the verse and destined to take on a horde of other hims in DIRTY NERDY CONFESSIONS.
The Bastardcast, officially Gotham Style!
