After being rejected by HBO for being ‘too edgy’ even by their standards, getting turned down for movie adaptation (starring James Marsden) then a movie again (directed by D.J. Caruso) before it was finally picked up by AMC, Preacher, much like its comic-book source material, has a long and winding tale to tell. The development team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been picking and prodding at the original work in an effort to turn it into TV material and we’re finally going to get our chance to see it, now that we’ve finally got a definitive release date…

The world and characters that Garth Ennis created in his Preacher comic run is so out-there crazy fun, it sounds like an almost impossible task to bring some of these personalities to life. Take for example, Arseface. After a botched attempted suicide, a shotgun blast leaves Arseface’s face disfigured and looking, well… rather like a butt hole. Thanks to a Facebook post by Seth Rogen, we’re able to have our first sneak peek at Ian Colletti as Arseface– and the character translates extremely well! (more…)

AMC’s ‘Preacher’ Pilot Casts Arseface

In the 15 years since Preacher ended its vaunted run in Vertigo, there have been numerous (Numerous!) attempts to turn it into a viable movie project. After fits and starts, someone finally had the bright idea to make Preacher for a format that was more likely to appreciate its rich, complex and challenging storytelling, and that’s television. Now being developed for AMC, which has had some success making series based on comic books, Preacher has moved from the theoretical to an actual project that is now casting. Hooray! And just as you thought this day was never going to come, another confounding event has occurred, Preacher has cast Arseface. (more…)
