artwork

Even though trailers have become the hottest way to display a new upcoming film, before the internet boomed posters used to take that role. Plastered across movie theater walls, they had to encapsulate the essence of a movie in a single, beautiful, wordless frame. The posters were an artform all on their own.

Movie posters aren’t as drooled over as before, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some damn some beautiful ones. After all, the John Wick 3 poster has completely floored fans.

With such a beautiful image on the tips of our brains and fluttering our hearts, let’s take a look back at other posters that give wonderful eyegasms and other artistic feels to anyone who sees them.

Some of these designs have inspired and impressed for decades; prepare for some serious optical pleasure.  (more…)

(click on the image to see surzan full image)

This is quite possibly the coolest mash-up of nerd properties the world will ever see. If you were an NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) fan than you may have seen a plethora of 8-bit games dedicated to the marvel franchise but I think deviant artist suzuran totally got it right. Enjoy them shits! And don’t forget to check surzan’s account to see more stellar artwork because here at Nerd Bastards we like to support the artists that bring us great content.

Protest

We all know about the protests of the Westboro Babtist Church. So on a lighter note, the above print had been available at Comic Con with the bottom left sign (“Jesus Kills Dumbledore”) actually being blank, so it could be personalized for the buyer. Created by Joel Watson with Hijinks Ensue. Old news, yes, but still something worth mentioning since it is quite brilliant. But now I’m curious…So my question to you is: What would you have the sign say if you were to get one personalized? Discuss.

Mario’s Art of Plumbing

Mario

We all know that Mario is a very busy man…after all, he tries to save a princess, travels through some pretty amazing worlds and fights off turtles and mushrooms. But what exactly does he do on his day off? Well, he is a plumber of course! (As if you didn’t know…and yet sometimes forget) Anyways, Pat Kinell drew this picture in which he entitled it “Super Plumber.”

Picasso Superhero Art

10

Wonderbros has created a new modern twist on the old Pablo Picasso artwork. They have taken the Picasso twists and applied them towards creating some superhero art pieces. Now, I am in no way an art enthusiast and to be honest, I would be bored silly in any museum. But looking at these, I can honestly say i wouldn’t mind having one hung up in my living room or bathroom. Now, are these what Picasso would have had in mind if he was recruited to paint them? Probably not, but all in all they are pretty cool. Take a gander at them and let me know what you think.

Main Pic Lost

I don’t know about you but I am a HUGE fan of ABC’s Lost. I never thought I would be able to get into it but a visit to my mother’s house in Ft. Lauderdale, FL changed my mind. She made me watch it and it was an obsession after that. It is such a thrilling and mind boggling show that it actually forces you to concentrate and think. It’s a mind workout every time an episode begins and is continuously turning the gears in your head the entire show and after it ends! And its something you talk about for days after. Well, If you’re an obsessed Lost fan like myself, I’m sure you will enjoy some art inspired by Lost. Check it out….
