Because if a day goes by without us getting something new about the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie the terrorists win, we’ve got some more Spider-Man news. As we count down to the release of the film, fate (and the internet) brings us a pair of new interviews with the cast and crew, and some provocative potential spoilers courtesy of one of the film’s social media outlets. So what ties all this together? As a wise man once said: Think about the future. So without further ado, let’s consider the future of Spider-Man(more…)

Shaiene Woodley‘s got it made in the shade with a starring role in the big new franchise based on a popular best-selling book series. Indeed, Divergent has made $100 million so far at the domestic box office and seems primed to carry on to complete the trilogy for all those nervous completists out there. Sadly though for Spider-Man completists, that means that Woodley is even more unlikely to come back for any future Amazing Spider-Man films. (more…)

It seems that after what has to be like 300 featurettes about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 released so far, we’re just now getting one about the man behind the Spider-Man mask, actor Andrew Garfield. I know there weren’t a lot of fans of the first Amazing Spider-Man here at Nerd Bastards (listen to the podcast if you don’t believe me), but I don’t think one of the problems with the film was Garfield. The featurette does a pretty good job of reminding you why Garfield was a good pick for Peter Parker/Spider-Man and revisits Garfield’s journey from that first announcement of his casting in 2010 through to principal photography on the new sequel. They are working overtime to convince us that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is not going to suck, aren’t they? But cynicism aside, this is the third featurette on the upcoming superhero film we’ve gotten and the movie is still three-and-a-months from being released. So what has Marc Webb and company got for us today? A segment called “Lights, Camera, Action!” Does it feature the lighting? No, don’t be silly. Is it about the type of cameras they filmed the movie on? Nope, which means by process of elimination, this one’s all about the action. I mean, “Action!” (more…)

I know that the nerd faithful by and large were somewhat disappointed by The Amazing Spider-Man. I’m one of those people. That might explain why Sony was working extra hard over Super Bowl weekend to load us up with so many new teasers, trailers and ads that we’ll all get excited for the upcoming sequel in earnest. Call me a sucker, but I fell for it.

But in case you’re not like me, Sony is going further to convince you Doubting Thomases to give Amazing another try by seemingly stitching together all the Super Bowl ads in a super-mega-trailer that’s a total 3-and-a-half minutes long. So are you ready for director Marc Webb to spin another web starring your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man? Take a look at the video below: (more…)

Thousands of people gather in New York City’s Time Square every year for the New Year’s celebrations every December 31, but joining Ryan Seacrest and a cavalcade of celebrity entertainers at the “crossroads of the world” this year is a very special guest in the form of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He’s not there to celebrate though, Spidey will be there to do some promotion for his upcoming new film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. (more…)

In the villain loaded sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, the most villainous of all is Max Dillion, AKA: Electro (played by Jamie Foxx). As we’ve seen in clips and images so far, we know we will see two sides to Electro, the pre- and post-super-power version of him, which begs the question: How will Electro get his powers in the film? It you subscribe to the Daily Bugle then you’ll already know the answer, for the rest of you the potential spoiler filled reveal is below. (more…)

The rumor mill concerning future Spider-Man films has included the possibility that the franchise is building up to a face off between everyone’s favorite Wall-Crawler and the super-villain team-up of the Sinister Six.
