Ayelet Zurer.

In a movie, music is everything. Even with a stellar cast, strung together with strong writing and insane visuals, a movie could become unwatchable without a banging musical score. Thankfully, if your Hollywood blockbuster is lacking that musical touch then Hans Zimmer is the man to call.

With over 100 film scores to his credit, including Rain Man, The Last Samuari, Inception and the entire Christopher Nolan Batman franchise, Hans is a natural choice when it comes to making beautiful music. So contrary to reports from last year, Zimmer has been called up once again to score the upcoming Man of Steel feature film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, Hans said:

My heart belongs to Batman… I wouldn’t even know how to go and give voice to it [Man of Steel].

But that was then. Now that his work on The Dark Knight Rises is finished, Variety is reporting that Zimmer has signed on to create the score for the Warner Bros. reboot. It’s going to be tough though, since Zimmer must contend with the iconic theme to Richard Donner‘s original Superman from 1978, created by John Williams. Does this mean he’ll be revamping the 34 year old theme currently humming in your head (we’re doing that too)?

[It] happens to be one of his greatest themes…So no. And I’m not thinking of rewriting Beethoven’s ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that’s unequivocally a no.

Zack Snyder is one lucky man. Not only does he get to use the theme associated with one of the greatest DC characters of all time, but one of the greatest living composers today will bring it back to theaters. Whatever brought on this change of heart will probably be mentioned in the near future, should Hans ever release a statement as to why he signed on.

Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Laurence Fishburne and Richard Schiff hits theaters June 14th.

Kal-El of Krypton is getting a new mommy.

Veteran actress of TV and Film, Julia Ormond (CSI: New YorkBenjamin Button) was set to star as the Kryptonian mother of DC comics Superman in the new, Zack Snyder directed, Man of Steel. For reasons unknown, the director made a last minute decision to replace her.

The new Lara Lor-Van will now be portrayed by stage and film star Ayelet Zurer. If you’re saying “Who’s that?” you’re not alone.

Her name may be fading you, because the last film Ayelet was in was the 2009 biblical thriller Angels & Demons, the chick who runs around with Tom Hanks for 2 hours.

Could it be that Snyder’s faster then a speeding bullet decision was all due to age and experience, or did Ormond have some Kryptonite in her vagina?

Ayelet, 42, barely look’s like she cracked her 30’s compared to Julia’s 46. Ayelet also has some actual military training. Jor-El must love a woman that can handle shooting off a few rounds (zing!).

Zurer will begin filming immediately alongside Russell Crowe, Superman’s Kryptonian father Jor-El, in the $175 million Warner Bros/Legendary film due out June 14, 2013.

Man of Steel Stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe and Ayelet Zurer.
