My lesbo-senses are tingling…Michelle Pfeiffer speaks!
While some of you may be wondering what the hell I’m talking about, let’s just clarify that I have a hard core girly crush on Michelle Pfeiffer, she had me at “Meooow” Anyways back to the news at hand, Michelle Pfeiffer, while being interviewed by Empire Magazine, discussed highlights from her role as Tim Burton’s iconic Catwoman.
I was halfway through the script when I said yes. Someone else was cast in the part and I remember being absolutely devastated and calling my agent and saying, ‘How have I not had a meeting about this? Why have I not heard about it?’ It was one of those things where Tim had someone in mind and went directly to them. So I was really bummed, but it was okay. When she [Annette Bening] fell out of it I was just leaving the country and got a call to say Tim wanted to meet me. So I went and he gave me the script and I got halfway through and said yes. But you know, honestly, I would have done it anyway, even without reading the script. But I was very happy that she was actually very well written.”
Now of course being the Queen of All Pussycat’s, Michelle Pfeiffer has claim to express her opinions on Christopher Nolan’s rendition of the character. She had this to say about Anne Hathaway’s rendition of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises:
“Oh, I think she’s great. I’m actually very much looking forward to seeing her in the role. I’m a big fan of hers and I think she has everything you need for that role. She has the humour, she can go to dark places, she’s obviously very talented. I think she’s going to be really good.”
Sooo for all those like me who were thinking it,would she have played Catwoman for Christopher Nolan if given the chance? She said, “Oh sure. I definitely would have done it.” Catwoman is a dark and sensual character, and so far it seems that Anne Hathaway is getting thumbs up all around for her upcoming role. If you can’t tell I’m excited you are sillier than coconut milk trying to be orange juice. The Dark Knight Rises is set to release July 20th, 2012.
The Countdown continues for the highly anticipated film of the summer, The Dark Knight Rises, and we here at Nerdbastards have been keeping our ear to the ground for any new tidbits of information and we have received a secret transmission from Nolan headquarters.
In December we got to see the masked villian, Bane, in all his creepy gravely voiced goodnes,s and this 5 minute prologue introducing Bane was rated by the MPAA as PG-13. Now the MPAA has finally decided the rating for the film as a whole, and it should be no surprise to anyone that they decided the rest of the film can keep the same rating of PG-13. While some may have been expecting a darker film to end the series, which would then receive an R-rating, it is the film’s best interest to be available for a larger audience demographic. Plus, it isn’t like this rating is anything new for the current Batman trilogy installment seeing as the last two films, Batman Begins & Batman: The Dark Knight, have consecutively received PG-13. Of course the naysayers will complain that the film doesn’t have enough “blood & gore” or that the violence demonstrated is easily available to young children who will replicate what they see.
On that front I have this to say, “Grow Up!”If you want to complain about voilence being so accesible why don’t you also look at the videogames, television shows, and novels that are being produced every day that have no “Child-Proof” filter. More and more children are watching and interacting with violent scenarios in their day to day lives, it is not the job of the MPAA to keep “your” children from acting like fools if you don’t teach them the difference between right/wrong or real/fantasy.
Anyways, the MPAA notes cite the film for “intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality, and language” as their reasons for the PG-13. The violence and action in the film are in line for what has been viewed in previous installments. The “sensuality” portion on the other hand can be attributed to Catwoman ’cause she is one sexually charged chick. (giggity) If you don’t believe me just watch Batman Returns.
That is all our Batman news for now, so make sure to mark on your calendar that The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20.
Batman and his arch enemy Bane have some serious trouble in the “speaking clearly” section of their psyche files. As this NerdBastard has gotten older he’s found that understanding what Batman is talking about is often easier than simply hearing what Batman has said. Maybe it’s because of all the loud rock concerts, factory machines, or maybe it’s just those damn commercials that suddenly blare out 20 at times higher volume than the television program you were watching.
Nolan’s first trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight Rises has many people rewinding to take another listen to try to figure out what the hell Bane or Batman just said. I swear that if this happens in the theater this NerdBastard is in . . . someone’s getting a NerdBastard Wedgie.
P.S. Take another look at that trailer and pay close atttention to the name on the football player that runs into the endzone and the “R” in the teams logo. Remind you of anything?
Batman : The Dark Knigh Rises is pushing pretty hard on the PR leaks. This is no mistake, they want to build up the hype for the last movie of the Nolan Batman series. So, let’s get started with the character that has been getting the most buzz recently, Catwoman.
After an interestingly confrontational interview with MTV on the negative/positive feedback from the outfit reveal, a source gives the Daily Mail a positive appeal to fans that this new Catwoman’s will be the sexiest we’ve ever seen. Here an excerpt of their report:
“…Meanwhile, Anne, who changed into a pale yellow dress for the film’s[One Day] after-party, is taking the transformation into Catwoman pretty seriously. The actress, who follows both Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, is said to have been putting in some intense preparation for the role. A source told the Mail: ‘Anne is working out five days a week. She’s taking it very seriously and wants her body in tip-top condition. ‘Secretly she hopes to upstage Halle Berry, who last played Catwoman. She’s doing dance classes, weight-training and cardio – she wants to be the sexiest Catwoman ever.”
To just put in my two cents, I think that with the current footage released of the stunt double in action, it won’t be hard for Hathaway to beat Halle Berry , ‘cause no offense, but Halle Berry was just a woman in a bondage outfit. I always call that Catwoman rendition, “She who shall not be named.” Secondly, if you notice they do not mention her outshining Michelle Pheifer. (hehe ‘cause she can’t) Anyways, below is some youtube footage of the stunt double in action, along with some clearer shots of the outfit. No offense Hathaway, but it’s just a rip off of Marvel’s Black Widow outfit…you can’t see any surprise hiding in that material.
Anne Hathaway takes an MTV reporter to task when asked about her knowledge of fan reactions to the debut of Catwoman’s costume this week. Anne is very “in the loop” with the reactions and after repeating MTV’s “Meh” to the reporter twice she goes on to say:
“If you didn’t like the photo…you only see about a tenth of what that suit can do. And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste.”
Anne looks ready to throw down when repeating MTV’s “Meh” reviews. Anne is laughing after the reporter jokingly apologizes for the “MTV Meh’s,” but notice the eye roll and the drop in her voice as she mentions it. Anne was not amused.
It’s that time again for the Superhero Roundup. It has all the news that was too small to have its own spotlight, but too juicy to pass up. Sneak peeks for today’s roundup include an sneak peek on possible costume ideas for our favorite kitty “Catwoman”, some gory Avenger mishaps, and exclusive interviews for super hero films in the works all of which you can read after the jump.
We start our roundup with the femme of the hour Catwoman! With filming of The Dark Knight Rises underway, and our only sneak peek character looks coming in the beefy, but scary Bane; people can’t help but wonder what Catwoman is gonna look like. Obviously the Catwoman that must not be named isn’t an option (Halle Barry that’s all I’m saying), and the recreation of the iconic Batman Forever Catwoman outfit is out of the question for the style of movie that Nolan has created so far. So the sky is the limit when it comes to the inspiration for the outfit, right?
Well, Hollywood Insider claims to have the inside scoop on what the direction might be for Nolan’s Catwoman, which is:
“Anne’s outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies,” a source very close to the costume design tells us exclusively. “She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it’s going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes. She’s going to look more like a robber”
No offense, but this “insider” is pretty vague about this costume design. The only thing that we can assume from this is that it may look something like Darwyn Cooke’s 2001 re-design of the antihero.
