You’ve probably seen the gritty super soldier in action on the pages of old Valiant Comics. Splattering blood, flashing guns, and a big red circle on his chest are what truly make Bloodshot one totally awesome comic book character. However, unlike the countless superhero films being released this year, Bloodshot is not the most familiar household name on the market and this is exactly what the valiant efforts of Valiant hope to conquer.  (more…)

Not to be outdone by Marvel and DC, Valiant Entertainment has thrown their hat into the Web series ring joining up with the talented web series father and son team Aaron and Sean Schoeknke, creators of Super Power Beat Down. Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe takes us into the world of Valiant comics where Ninjak (Michael Rowe) has been blackmailed by his arch nemesis Roku and it is up to the rest of the Valiant heroes to stop him. Valiant Entertainment and Sony Pictures have teamed up for a five-picture deal involving the Bloodshot and Harbinger comic series respectively, set to kick off in 2017 with Bloodshot. The schematics seem to be two Bloodshot films, 2 Harbinger films, and then a crossover film called Harbinger Wars. Not much is known about the Harbinger films directorial-wise as of yet, but in the Bloodshot corner, we have the creative combo of David Leitch and Chad Stahelski; the two previously teamed up in 2014 for John Wick. (A moment of silence, please, for Daisy the beagle.) Eric Heisserer (known for 2011’s The Thing) will work the scripts for both. (more…)

Valiant 6

Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Black Widow, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Spider-Man, Aunt May…These are only a few names of characters with which you are no doubt familiar.  They represent some of the biggest names in comic books and if you haven’t seen them on the big screen yet, you will definitely be seeing them soon.  Now, how about Ninjak? Archer & Armstrong? Bloodshot?  Toyo Harada or Peter Stanchek?  Chances are that if you aren’t a fan of comic books, you may not know any of those names but thanks to a new deal reached between Valiant Entertainment and DMG Entertainment (co-producers of Iron Man 3 and Looper) you will likely know those names very soon.  Through the new deal, some of Vailant’s best characters are about to get some major screen time. As the Jim Shooter created comic line, Valiant Comics, slowly returns to the racks it looks like some of the properties from the 1992 line are already being optioned for the big screen. Sony’s Columbia Pictures and Neal Moritz’s Original Film (The Green Hornet) have nabbed the rights to develop Bloodshot based on a spec script written by Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf).

Part of the grim and gritty 90’s, the books first issue was the highest selling comic Valiant had ever released. A twist on the super soldier archetype, the Bloodshot is an nanite enhanced mob hitman with amnesia… yep, Hollywood will have some fun with this one.

Hit the jump for the official press release from Sony.
