With over forty years of experience, three Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy award under his belt, English actor Bob Hoskins had quite a storied career. Now, after four decades in the business that shaped his life, Hoskins has decided to throw in the towel and retire from professional acting.

This isn’t some weird bid to gain interest in a new film or upcoming project, but because of Bob’s diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease last Fall. The actor has decided to retire in order to spend more time with his family. With films like Brazil, Mermaids, Who framed Roger Rabbit,  his work as Smee in both 1991’s Hook and 2011’s Neverland, as well as the recently released Snow White and The Huntsman Hoskins has earned his stripes and a well deserved retirement.

According to a statement released by Hoskins’ agent:

Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease last autumn. He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time.

We all hope that Bob gets better and enjoys a long retirement with his family. We’ll miss his talents on the big screen.

This Brazilian Batman is not fighting the likes of The Joker or Two-Face to protect Gotham from criminals, but 50 year-old André Luiz Pinheiro could be the answer to combating violent criminal activity in his native Brazil.

André Luiz Pinheiro, a retired soldier who originally started dressing up as DC‘s Batman for children’s parties and other events, is being asked by local military police to help combat crime. Details are still being worked out, but Brazilian site has released a story on how both residents and business owners in André’s home of Taubaté, Brazil have approved of the idea.

Here’s a portion of the article, translated into English:

“The goal is that it is part of the Movement for Peace, held by various civil society organizations organized and had its first edition last Sunday. The Military Police want the ‘Batman Taubaté’ begin their work already on the 17th, when a step is carried out more work to combat crime in the neighborhood Esplanade St. Therese, one of the most violent city. The action will be part of the efforts of UAPC (Advanced Community Policing Unit) installed in the neighborhood last year by the PM for the purpose of assisting the integration between the police and the community.”

By the looks of it, André won’t be actually dealing with criminals in person, but rather becoming a public spokesperson talking to children about issues like murder and drug trafficking, both on a serious rise in the country. Still, it’s all for a good cause.  Keeping young kids from becoming career criminals is always a good thing.

As for whether or not DC is cool with one of their star comic book characters being used without permission remains to be seen, but who really cares?  This is for the kids and that’s what matters.

It’s the end of the world as we know it!! And I feel FUCKED!!

Fire tornadoes, like the one caught on this camera in Brazil 2 days ago, are caused by high winds and wildfires.
These natural occurrences can be extremely dangerous. “I haven’t see devastation of this magnitude since the Great Chipmunk Fire of 79′!!”

As a 1923 fire tornado near Tokyo proved when it killed 38,000 people in 15 minutes.
Some people call fire tornadoes ‘fire devils’ or a ‘fire whirls’ because the fast-moving fire forms a vortex that whirls across the land at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

Looks like Charizard from Pokemon has just won a battle but at the expense of potentially thousands of deaths!! It’s also gotta make you think, the D&D spell Wall of Fire will totally decimate your Orcish enemies plus take out the temperate climate of the forest you are exploring! “Hey guys, I totally took out the Orcs!- Yeah?”Said the Ranger named Abel. ” But the forest I’ve sworn to protect is engulfed in flames!!! We need Create Water Spell asap!! What?! We don’t have a Cleric? What theFuck!”

BTW-All these clips are the same, but most have Brazilian, or no audio. I think this video makes the horrifying tornado Beautiful

One major problem I have with the movie industry is how they devise movie names. I mean seriously, there are time when I hear the name of a movie and thing to myself, that’s a pretty interesting name for a movie, and I think this is what its about…and then I go and waste 10 bucks to find out it was nothing what I expected and just wasted my time and money on something horrific. But then again, movie trailers do that same thing sometimes, or maybe I’m just stupid. Either way, I thought it would be interesting to give you some examples of how a few Sci-Fi movies have led me to believe they where about something completely different then what I imagined. And when you see the movie names, stop and take a guess first…then read what it’s really about…
