Captain Cold

Flashfeature1

There is very little doubt that comic book fans and television fans alike are absolutely infatuated with The Flash’s inaugural season.  The series currently sits at a very hefty 96% approval over at Rotten Tomatoes (a site that is known as much for internet trolls and naysayers as it is for its “freshness” scores) and it even took home the 2014 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama.  After one of the more successful mid-season finales on television, fans of the CW series were chomping at the bit to get back to the adventures of Barry Allen, and after a month long hiatus, those fans got their wish with Revenge of the Rogues.  Was it worth the wait?  In a word: abso-fucking-lutely.  Spoilers ahead. Sometimes the winners of the People’s Choice Awards are programs that don’t exactly appeal to people with – what’s the word I’m looking for – “taste.” But sometimes taste makers and the omnivores of the TV universe agree on something, and this year, that something is the awesomeness of the CW series The Flash. At last night’s ceremony for the People’s Choice Awards (you may have already seen the clip of Captain America Chris Evans helping Betty White to the stage, re-certifying his volunteer merit badge in the process), The Flash beat out some strong competition to win the Favorite New TV Drama award. So the Fastest Man Alive is starting off the year right! Good thing, because as revealed by a new trailer, it’s a villain-palooza for 2015 in Central City. (more…)

BOOMER1

Digger Harkness was a bastard from Australia. Raised in poverty by his mom, he received a boomerang as a gift one day and got awesome at using it. With no discernible military history to speak of, nor any known ownership of a boat, Harkness nonetheless ranked himself Captain Boomerang. Making an enemy out of the Flash, Dig used his skills to commit crimes until the day he died. But not before teaching his son Owen Mercer the fine arts of villainous stick throwing. Owen, as the new Captain Boomerang, followed in dad’s footsteps, further pissing off the Flash in the process. And since Flash has a new TV show in the mail, the creators have decided to jam pack it with his rogue’s gallery. But not with Captain Boomerang. No, he’ll appear on TV’s ‘Arrow’ instead. Read on to see who’s playing him. (more…)

This past week during the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Geoff Johns, the executive producer of the new CW superhero series The Flash said that this series, following the weekly adventures of the Scarlet Speedster, would be the most faithful DC Comics-based TV show yet. Well, it wouldn’t be a faithful Flash series without his colorful rogues gallery, so the latest casting news from the show starts to fill out those ranks very early on the series. So who’s coming to take on The Flash? Let’s just say he’s about to put a freeze on Central City. He’s going to make the citizens chill out, and despite the best efforts of the police, they’re not going to put him in the cooler… Sorry. I’ve got a million of these.  (more…)
