When the reviews for Suicide Squad started breaking earlier this week, the news was, um, not good. A lot of people were hoping that critics might give the film the old “thumbs up” rubber stamp, and while there hasn’t been a chorus of non-stop negativity like the one that greeted Batman V. SupermanSuicide Squad was still ranked a dud on that root of all evil, Rotten Tomatoes. On the bright side, it still looks like Suicide Squad is going to collect massive bank over the weekend, so does what the critics say matter in this instance? What once seemed to be a pet project of Guillermo del Toro‘s has now become a full blown Warner Bros./DC Entertainment joint, and work on Justice League Dark is persisting despite del Toro bailing for other (greener?) pastures. Uber-producer Scott Rudin is now rallying the cause, and as Warner Bros. struggles to get original recipe Justice League off the ground – part one is due in theaters in 2017 – it seems that Dark is coming along with progress in the casting of this other League. Sources have leaked the names of three potential JL Dark members, as well as some additional casting details that might make you think this is really the League to watch in the coming months. After his box office success with 2014’s “Lucy,” starring none other than “Avengers: Age of UltronBlack Widow herself Scarlett Johansson, director Luc Besson took to the Twitter-verse (in his very first tweet, nonetheless,) to announce his newest project: a film adaptation of the French sci-fi graphic novel ‘Valérian and Laureline’, written by Pierre Christin with art by Jean-Claude Mézières. The novel, first published in 1967, follows the adventures of the two title heroes: special agents that possess the ability to manipulate space and time. (more…)

Word is out that Warner Bros. announced the star-studded cast of its upcoming DC super-villain tent-pole movie Suicide Squad. Director David Ayer will have his hands full with the talented cast that includes Oscar winner Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress. Word around the Internet has Oscar winner Jared Leto being considered for key role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad that could quite possibly be the part of the Joker according to an individual close to the project over at Warner Bros. Leto is no stranger to the internet casting rumourville, he was previously  one of the frontrunners to take on the role of Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which eventually went to Benedict Cumberbatch. Warner Bros. and Leto’s representation did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (more…)
