Let’s face it; Deadpool was every raunchy, comic book-adoring individual’s dream. It had everything you could ask for from one of the most sarcastic actors in Hollywood perfecting the role to some of the most gruesome fight scenes to grace the screen and the superhero movie trend in a long time. However, as the screen rolled the credits and the fans trudged out of the theaters, the question already on their minds was simply, ‘what’s next?’  (more…)

Oh, man, Spider-Man fans, is your Spidey Sense tingling?  It looks like fans of the comic book favorite may have just been treated to an early present.  One of the toughest things about producing a movie in the Digital Age is that very few things that the filmmakers have tried to keep secret remain secret.  With Suicide Squad, for example, unofficial photos were being posted daily, most of them very obviously being cell phone photos.  Considering the audiences’ excitement for Marvel’s take on Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, it is a bit surprising that fans haven’t heard more about the character, especially with The Russo Brothers filming Captain America: Civil War, in which the web-slinger is rumored to play a part.  Well, it looks like things are finally changing a bit as we now have an unofficial cast list that may shed some light on where Spider-Man’s next stand-alone movie may be heading. I can’t help but feel we’re enabling a desperate man’s sickness by posting news like this, but yet again actor/comedian/liquor entrepreneur Dan Aykroyd is talking about the long, long, long, long, long gestating Ghostbusters 3 sequel.

While on Larry King Now, Aykroyd was asked about where the third Ghostbusters movie currently sits, and while they touched on Bill Murray‘s participation (no interest, but door’s open, long story short), Aykroyd did talk about casting the new film, and who and what he might be looking for.

“We’re going to have to cast. We need four new ghostbusters,” Aykroyd said. “We need four new Columbia students.”

“It’s based upon new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University,” he added. “Basically there’s research being done that…I can say that the world or our dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width, and time, become threatened by some of the research that is being done. And Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters have to come and some the problem.”

Great. Now all Aykroyd needs is a script, a cast, a budget, a film crew and a release date and maybe we’ll see Ghostbusters 3 sometime in the next decade, or at least before the original ‘Busters start turning into Ghosts themselves.

More (non) new as it develops (inevitably).

Whoever said G.I. Joe’s were toys never told John McClane.

Action star Bruce Willis is in talks to join the cast of G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, with the veteran action joining Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson and RZA as new cast members to the franchise. While Paramount studios has declined to comment on the business deal we have learned, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, that Willis is in negotiations to play General Joe Colton. If that name sounds familiar to G.I. Joe nerds it should, Joe Colton is the original Joe.

For those that don’t know the man known as Joe Colton , he was the first to get the handle G.I. Joe back in the 1980’s comic book series. First called the ultimate freedom fighting force, his unit later becomes the G.I. Joe strike team. This guy make Snake Eyes look like a bitch.

If Bruce does sign on to join the Jon M. Chu directed movie before it starts filming in October then this will give the Lorenzo di Bonaventura-produced action movie the much needed run for it’s money.

Personally having Willis play the number one Joe would be an added boost to the franchise….. as long as they let him keep that kung-fu grip. We’ll have to wait and see.

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation is slated for theaters June 29th, 2012.

It’s been said that the greatness of a hero can only be measured by the nasty qualities of their villains. Captain America has a wide selection of nefarious villains to choose from; Red Skull leads the pack, but some of the other lesser known villains, as well as Captain America’s supporting cast, really deliver the action and intrigue that Captain America fans love.

When news of the Captain America movie started making the rounds at conventions and the Internet, comic book store conversations centered on casting and story lines. No one was arguing that Red Skull would not be in the film; that was a given. The best conversations and forum musings, though, were what supporting heroes and villains would make the movie cut. Everyone has their favorites: Sharon Carter, Union Jack, Nick Fury, The Falcon, Baron Zemo, M.O.D.O.K., Baron Blood and Baron Von Strucker to just name a few off the top of my head.

Rick Marshall of MTV recently sat down with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the screenwriters for the upcoming Captain America film. Click through the jump to read some interesting excerpts from the interview on what supporting characters made the cut and which might show up in later movies, then let NerdBastards know what supporting character YOU want to see in the Captain America movie or the inevitable sequel.
