‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is still nearly a year-and-a-half before it’s released and we already have been receiving great info for this third film in the Thor franchise. It’s been almost two weeks since the confirmation of several additions to the cast, including Cate Blanchett (Hela), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Karl Urban (Skurge), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk confirmed to appear. That right there is a great indicator that this film will be more of a team-up film than a solo story. Cate Blanchett has some big plans for her acting career. The two-time Oscar winner has just received SAG and Golden Globe nominations, well earned through her performance in Carol, and now she has her eyes on a new prize. The… Marvel Universe? The decision may not seem so out of character when you account for her portrayal of Galadriel in Peter Jackson‘s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, but signing on to any MCU film will catapult her right back into the blockbuster limelight that Blanchett has be flying under the radar of as of late. The list of talented thespians with accents continues to grow for Kenneth Branagh‘s new take on Cinderella as Hayley Atwell has joined the company. The artist formally (and futurely) known as Captain America’s Peggy Carter, will join Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham CarterStellan Skarsgård, Sophie McShera, Holliday Grainger, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Lily James.

So who will she play? Read the headline again!

But seriously, it was Atwell herself who broke the news of her new role in Harper’s Bazaar. “I am about to start filming Kenneth Branagh’s new movie, Cinderella, playing Cinderella’s biological mother at the beginning of the story, the embodiment of goodness and maternal love,” she wrote.

The new Cinderella will begin shooting this fall for a spring 2015 release date. James will play the title character with McShera and Grainger playing the wicked stepsisters, Blanchett playing the wicked stepmother, Madden as Prince Charming, and Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

As for Atwell, nerd fans will be able to see her next as Peggy Carter in the short film of the same name to be included with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, and in a cameo in the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Cinderella is scheduled for release on March 13, 2015.

Hanna Trailer Will Blow You Away!

(Article by nerdbastards contributor Mark Poynter, A.K.A Mordrun)

Many of you out there have a special place in your heart for the movie The Professional.  That movie was touching, troubling, and immensely satisfying all in one big beautiful package.  Hanna seems to be on the same track.  This trailer blew me away.  I would be in line at the theater at this moment if Hanna was already released in theaters.

Hanna begins with Erik Heller (Eric Bana), as ex-CIA operative who raises his 14 year old daughter Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) to be the perfect killing machine. Hanna mission: to eliminate a very specific person: Marissa Wiegler, an active CIA agent. The reasons, as far as the trailer and the film’s synopsis are concerned, remain a mystery.  Release date is April 8, 2011.

1.  Joe Wright – The guy knows how to make a movie.  Pride and Prejudice – 7 Academy Award noms.  Atonement – 7 golden Globe noms, 6 Academy Awards noms.  The Soloist – OK, this one was weak, lots of production issues and release dates moved, not his best work.

2. Saoirse Ronan – Worked with Wright in Atonement and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.  She has acting chops.

3.  Cate Blanchett – She can do no wrong in my book, at least ever since she played Irina Spalko in that Indiana Jones movie whose name is not to be spoken.  (Sorry, I have a thing for Russian speaking beauties, don’t get me started on Angelina Jolie in Salt..)

4.  Eric Bana – Give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, “If any of us get laid laid tonight its because of Eric Bana in Munich”

5.  The Chemical Brothers are scoring Hanna.
