Warner Bros. is adding a touch of Oscar-calibre class to its upcoming LEGO movie, casting Morgan Freeman as one of the voices in the upcoming animated feature. Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks has also signed up for the film to provide a voice as well.
The film is called LEGO: The Piece of Resistance, and it’s being directed by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The plot follows an ordinary Lego mini-figure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, who is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together. Freeman will play “Vitruvius,” who is described as a cross between “Gandalf meets Mr. Magoo,” while Banks will play the “badass ex-girlfriend” of another character that will be voiced by Chris Pratt. Arrested Development actor Will Arnett rounds out the rest of the announced cast so far as as the voice of LEGO Batman.
The 3-D animated film is aiming for a February 28, 2014 release date.
