Colbie Smulders

In the upcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the cast is packed with many familiar faces from previous Marvel movies: Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Colbie Smulders (Maria Hill) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) being three. But who else might show up?

How about the Congressional scourge of Tony Stark’s life, Senator Stern? After giving Stark and Rhodey honors at the end of Iron Man 2, we haven’t heard much of Stern, who’s played by Garry Shandling, but it looks like he’s up for a reprise in The Winter Solider. Here’s a set pic from a Tumblr user called Gundamdick, who snapped this image from the Washington D.C. set of The Winter Soldier:

And who’s that Stern is hugging warmly? None other than S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jasper Sitwell (Thor, The Avengers, Item 47) played by Maximiliano Hernández. But why are Stern and Sitwell so chummy, and what does any of this have to do with The Winter Soldier‘s plot? Stay tuned for more information as it leaks.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. television show is in the process of filming and many of us are looking forward to seeing what it brings to the world of TV super hero/comic book-ness.  We already know that Agent Coulson will be making his return from the dead on the show, though some are curious whether other movie-cast S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will be making appearances or not.

One of the agents in question is Agent Maria Hill, AKA Colbie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother).  She showed up The Avengers and will be continuing to weave her way through the Marvel Universe in the upcoming Captain America sequel, but will she be showing up on S.H.I.E.L.D. TV as well?

In an interview with I Am Rogue, Smulders had a few things to say about her role as Hill, including whether she’d be able to get away from current gig to jump on S.H.I.E.L.D.:

The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it. And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it.

And whether she really wants to continue in the role, jumping from movies to TV series for potentially the next decade or so:

Oh yeah! I’m very excited. I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.

There you have it folks.  If you’re an Agent Maria Hill fan, look forward to seeing her pretty face in more than one future Marvel project.

Check her out in Captain America: The Winter Soldier April 4th, 2014 or wait and see if she ends up in S.H.I.E.L.D. come the predicted airing date of this fall.

Thanks to I Am Rogue for the interview goodness.
