Netflix recently dropped season 2 of Marvel’s Iron Fist, a show with an overwhelmingly panned first season. As the fourth series to round out “The Defenders” hero group of New York, the first season failed to do much except set up plot for The Defenders itself. Its main hero was annoying, parts of it were boring, and it quickly became known as the worst Marvel series to exist.
But what about season 2?
Although you can’t shoot a green arrow without hitting a TV show based on a DC Comics property these days, only two – Arrow and The Flash – have any kind of established connectivity with each other. Since it looks like all the DC Universe characters will be on TV at some point now, either introduced in an established show or are being launched into their own series, it begs the question whether or not there will be more crossover potential. Supergirl is an interesting case. Based on the comic book about Superman’s cousin who also finds herself on Earth after Krypton’s explosion, the idea of an alien woman with incredible powers may be too much for the Arrow/Flash-verse and have no place in the gritty realism of Gotham or the supernatural realm of Constantine.
