If you’ve been following the upcoming Suicide Squad film, then you know there were a LOT of costume trails and errors to be had to come up with the perfect fit for one Harley Quinn. As we have seen, the ‘Daddy’s Little Monster’ baseball style tee and sequined daisy dukes, took the cake for the look they were trying to portray. Now, Warner Brothers has released behind-the-scenes footage that is over 9-minutes long and it reveals the classic jester costume! Costume designer, Kate Hawley had her own input for fans.  (more…)

Harley-Quinn-Suicide-Squad

Since her first appearance in the legendary Batman: The Animated Series, the clown lady-in-waiting of crime has become a staple among the Caped Crusader’s considerable villains roster. When her first proper silver screen appearance on the latest Suicide Squad film was announced however, many of her avid fans expected her to rock her signature Court Jester look or to at least settle for the newer, darker goth-pinup girl with issues. Margot Robbie apparently decided to bring this issue to a close with her latest statement on the villain’s costume choice…

Both from a production and presentation standpoint, television is a very different medium from the world of comic books.  Whether it is CW’s DC-centric shows like Arrow and Flash or shows from different decades (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman always springs to mind, for some reason), a sense of real-world practicality is usually infused to a TV production – and understandably so.  It is with this in mind, then, that the highly-acclaimed Netflix offering Daredevil tried to stay as “true to life” as possible, and this  approach extended to the titular hero’s “super” costume.  As we are now on the brink of the second season being released, the powers-that-be behind the show have chosen to share a few alternate designs they had for the “Man Without Fear.” (more…)

The Dark Archer. Deathstroke. Ra’s al Ghul. No, the real test for the man who plays TV’s Green Arrow will be when he steps into the wrestling ring this Sunday in his much ballyhoo’d showdown on WWE SummerSlamArrow star Stephen Amell will be face-off against Twitter war rival Stardust this weekend, in a match that will see Amell team with Adrian Neville against Stardust and King Barrett. But ever the social media guru, Amell shared his prep work with Facebook fans , including the famous green outfit that he’ll be wrestling in… (more…)

Clothes make the man, so they say, and a number of TV super men are getting a fashion fix for the upcoming TV season. Chief among them is The Flash, the Fastest Man Alive is getting a new look for the fall, one that aligns a bit more to his comic book origins, if you care about that sort of thing. Of course, when we last left the Flash he had some much bigger concerns than clothing, like a giant black hole forming above Central City following the defeat of the main villain, and the death of an important supporting character, but seeing as how this is a superhero drama we’re talking about, the state of costume comes a close second place. Arrow-Al-Sah-Him-5

Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in. Of course, you didn’t really think Arrow was out, did you? Oliver Queen may have hung up his quiver at the end of season three, but since the CW renewed the show for a fourth season, it opened the inevitable return of the Emerald Archer to punish those that have failed Starling City. But since they made a pretty big deal about Oliver walking away, he’s going to need an outfit that says, “Yeah, I quit, but now I’m back and I mean business.” Et voila! This evening, the new Arrow outfit was revealed to the crowd come to hear about Arrow at San Diego Comic Con. (more…)

Daredevil

It’s the final countdown! No, not that awful 80s hit by Europe that’s now more commonly known as the theme music of GOB’s magic show on Arrested Development. We’re getting off topic, but what we’re talking about here is Daredevil. It maybe Marvel Studios third series, but it’s their first one for Netflix, and a drastic change in tone and purpose as recounted in the advanced review by Nerd Bastards el hefe Luke Gallagher. Still, we’ve been plagued by a singular question about the series that has to do with a very specific item: costume design. We’ve all wanted to know if the costume that Daredevil’s worn for much of his 50 year history will be the one worn by Charlie Cox at some point in the series, and now we have an answer… (more…)

Twitter has become the preferred source to release big movie news for a lot of actors and directors. There are pros and cons in using this particular media; on the one hand it’s direct and immediate, but on the other hand social platforms can turn into wretched hives of scum and villainy so quickly that you regret the day you ever heard the word tweet (even in a bird context). But the following looks like news that will definitely get fans of a certain persuasion excited. To put it this way, if you’re one of those people that was pissed that the Deadpool you saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine bore no physical resemblance to the Deadpool you know and love from the comics, prepare to flip your lid. DC-Comics-Firestorm

The writers of The Flash certainly had some brass when they decided to incorporate the DC Comics hero Firestorm into the show. Now Firestorm may not make the front bench of the Justice League, and he may not make the Top 100 of the best-selling superheroes of all time, but his super-power is fire and he’s got, easily, one of the most flamboyant costumes in the entire DC Universe. Now we’ve seen what Firestorm (and actor Robbie “cousin of Arrow’s StephenAmell) looks like when the flame is on – so to speak – but one has to wonder how The Flash will re-interpret the costume for TV. Well wonder no more! Behold, Firestorm’s CW-approved, ready for prime time, updated haute couture. Warning, this may not exactly meet you definition of fighting style. (more…)

guardians-of-the-galaxy-chris-pratt

It’s not unheard of for movies stars to “accidentally” take home some mementos from the set of their film, so when Chris Pratt, star of the at-this-point-all-but-guaranteed blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, recently revealed that he had sticky fingers before leaving the set of the Marvel Studios film, it didn’t come a surprise. The thing that was a little surprising though was Pratt’s stated reason for stuffing his suitcase with some extra stuff from the London set of Guardians, and it wasn’t about collecting fond memories or stuff his closet for a future Ebay auction.
