So, it seems that Ghost Rider 2 is slowly but surely coming together!

According to an interview with Cage done by MTV News, he is very excited about the Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor helming the sequel. While still mum on the specifics of the plot, it does seem to appear that while it will feature the same character, Johnny Blaze, it will not be in strict continuity with the first film.

To be brutally honest, the original was not great, but it was still better than a lot of other superhero movies that were out (I’m looking at you: Daredevil, Elektra and Ang Lee’s Hulk).

The movie had some great moments, and the character of Johnny Blaze, a man who sold his soul to protect someone he loved and is then damned to work for the devil and punish the wicked, is a great character.

I have high hopes for this sequel, as the directors and Cage all are passionate about the project, and I sincerely hope that they can make the new movie as great as it deserves. Check out the full interview with MTV News after the jump.

According to Cage, they are set to begin filming in November of this year.

That’s right folks, Nic Cage and his crazy ass hair wants to do another Ghost Rider movie before Columbia Pictures loses the rights to make one. While it’s not set for Cage to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze, there is talks for the Crank duo, Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, to direct the film. If it all goes smoothly, the film will be titled “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence.”

So yeah, who here liked the first one. I mean, the only reason why I watched it was because of the sexy Eva Mendas. I’m sure Cage only wants this project to get picked up just so that he gets some extra cash on him (the man has a poor money spending habit). Then again, if they do get the Crank duo to direct the film and possibly write it as well, we may at least get a fun, action filled Ghost Rider. What do ya’ll think? Is this something that should be made and if so, do you want Cage to reprise his role? Or should Marvel just put Blaze and his motorcycle down just so we don’t suffer through another movie.
