Daisy Ridley And Co. Wish You A Happy May 4th!

As we all know, May 4th marks Star Wars day, in honour of the franchise we all love so much. All around the world people are literally celebrating Star Wars Day in one way or another, even if it is as simple tweet wishing people a happy Star Wars Day. What may have started off as a simple pun on a date, has turned into a bit of a phenomenon! There is one greeting however, that is probably a little more welcomed than the others. Today Daisy Ridley took to the internet to send a message to every Star Wars fan out there, with a little thank you from her and the Star Wars team that were on hand!

At the end of Star Wars: Episode VII, the status of many characters were left in limbo, but the most talked about was Rey’s status as a Jedi, which is still very much in the air. The subject has become one of the burning queries of the film, and during the MTV Movie Awards Daisy Ridley gave her two cents on the character role in the series. Read more after the jump.

In what’s become a frequent repose in the last year, the merchandisers for a major movie franchise are under attack for ignoring the idea that girls like big sci-fi, action/adventure movies too. A new version of Star Wars Monopoly was released back in September includes Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Finn and Luke Skywalker game pieces, but mysteriously, the new hero character of the sequel trilogy is mysteriously absent. The question before the Monopoly makers now is where is Rey, the character played by Daisy Ridley? The Monopoly mess is now the latest rallying point for gender equality, at least so far as toys and games are concerned. (more…)

“Let’s talk about Rey, Baby. Let’s talk about Rey”

Actress Daisey Ridley plays, Rey,  a desert wandering, speeder bike driving, scavenger in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. To those that haven’t see the movie, that’s what she has appeared to be on the surface – and for the most part, she is all that. Those that have seen the flick will tell you her story is much more than that. At this  point, in this posting, if you haven’t seen the movie and don’t want to know more about her, then consider this your exit. For the rest of you, a new development has just been revealed concerning the characters secret lineage. (more…)

A little over a month till the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it’s interesting to note just how little we don’t know about the new film in terms of story or how the various characters come together. Of course, specifically, what we’re talking about is if any of the young characters are linked genealogically to any of the characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. Perhaps this is a clue. The latest TV advertisement for The Force Awakens seems to be pointing pretty strongly that once of the new characters has a familial connection to one of the big three. Are we crazy, or did this ad just out who the heir to the Solo Empire is? (more…)

In the midst of an abundance of excitement for the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was a bit of shade. As fans counted down to a big moment, the new trailer and the beginning of advanced ticket sales, a strange hashtag started appearing on Twitter, #BoycottStarWarsVII. But why, why would anyone want to #BoycottStarWarsVII? Well, if you were among the curious that clicked, you got a startling truth that the hashtag was the effort of a group of white supremacists that don’t like the fact that the new leads of Star Wars are a woman and a black man. Star Wars

It consisted of seven shots and was only a minute-and-a-half long, but the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was one of the biggest videos to hit the web last year. Given that it’s already been seen hundreds of millions of times, you can only imagine what kind of business the next trailer will do, especially if it features a more substantial look at the plot and characters, particularly the returning cast of the original Star Wars trilogy. Well, for your reading and spoiling pleasure below, you can now enjoy what sounds like the new trailer description for the second look at The Force Awakens, as the year that broke nerdom marches on. It’s almost expected for movie toy merchandize to spoil something about the movie before it hits the big screen these days. It’s gotten so bad that James Gunn suggested that they not make a dancing Groot toy to ensure the final scene remained a surprise for fans. J.J. Abrams has been trying to keep the lid on Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers and leaks, but leave it to the toy makers to let some character spoilers out of the bag. (more…)
