Last night, the casts of the 1984 (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts) and the 2016 Ghostbusters (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones) joined forces on the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage to celebrate Ghostbusters Day and promote the upcoming film’s release on July 15th. Guillermo as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was the highlight of the evening and it’s pretty evident that Bill Murray has an almost unhealthy attraction for that character. You’ll notice there’s a couple of different outfits worn, some of these must have been shot earlier in the day. (more…)

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… and mass hysteria is headed your way as the casts from the 1984 original and the 2016 reboot Ghostbusters will appear on stage together on Jimmy Kimmel Live to celebrate Ghostbusters Day on June 8th. “The Internet is gonna blow up, blow up real good,” as Big Jim McBob (Joe Flaherty) and Billy SOl Hurok (John Candy) would say on SCTV’s Farm Film Celebrity BlowUp. It’s the 32nd anniversary of the release of the first film. Which cast members will be on stage when the two streams cross?

Yeah… yeah. Everyone is getting tired of hearing about Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot, but like it or not, it is news in the Nerdy world of news. This time around there’s a new television clip from across the pond that reveals a big cameo for the movie. We won’t talk about which original Ghostbusters character cameo is revealed until after the jump, so if you don’t want to know, don’t click. Consider that your spoiler warning. (more…)

There’s been so much criticism of the new Ghostbusters movie, some of it justified and some of it not-so justified, but for those in the former category, the refrain has been let’s wait and see what the finished film looks like before casting final judgement. Well, one person has seen the movie, and they are casting a positive judgment saying that the movies is great, “brilliant” even! Of course, the person saying that is Dan Aykroyd, the co-star and co-screenwriter of the other Ghostbusters films. In his completely unbiased point of view (because he has absolutely no stake in the film’s success at all) you’re gonna love Paul Feig‘s movie! (more…)

For a movie that hasn’t even released its first trailer yet, Paul Feig‘s new Ghostbusters movie has received a lot of negative backlash.  Even Kristen Wiig is bummed!  Maybe potential viewers will change their tune, or at least give the film a fighting chance, after some endorsement from someone near and dear to the franchise. And by “near and dear to”, I really mean “the creator of”. So I mean, that really should count for something. Read on to hear OG (original Ghostbuster) Dan Aykroyd‘s personal views on both Feig’s film and Feig himself. (more…)

Another big cameo has just been announced by Ghostbusters director Paul Feig. He decided to go ahead and announce Sigourney Weaver‘s cameo to beat the “leakers” to the punch. While Feig has said that he regrets these cameos being leaked and would rather have them be surprises for Ghostbuster fans, apparently he’s tired of the leaks and wanted to beat them at their own game. (more…)

Dan Aykroyd tweeted out confirmation of his cameo in Paul Feig‘s all female Ghostbusters Reboot/Re-Imagining over the weekend, but don’t try to find it, he or someone in his camp deleted the tweet soon after. Perhaps his cameo wasn’t supposed to be so publicly confirmed so soon. We all expected a cameo from Aykroyd in there somewhere, and now we know he’ll at least be in the movie, if not exactly how. There used to be a time that the question “who you gonna call?” was a fairly easy one to answer.  Hell, some of us even remember the number to call (555-2368)! You knew that if you had a problem with poltergeists and needed someone who was ready to believe, you called Drs. Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, and even trusted the one member of the ‘Busters without a PhD., Winston Zeddmore.  Times, they are a-changing, and earlier this year, we learned that a whole new group of Ghostbusters would be heading to the big screen without a Y-chromosome to be found.  Last night, it was revealed that the “who you gonna call?” question was getting even tougher to answer, now that it’s been revealed that Sony plans on launching an entire universe around the concept.  Today, we have even more details on this otherworldly expansion. It was recently announced that the Russo Brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) signed with Sony Pictures. Once finished with Captain America threequel, Captain America: Civil War, it was assumed the dynamic duo would be tackling a new Spider-Man film for Sony. So radically wrong is that assessment. The film that they’re actually being eyed for… is a male counterpart Paul Feig’s female-centric Ghostbusters. Drew Pierce  (Iron Man 3) is set to write, with Channing Tatum to produce and co-star.  (more…)
