Based on the Marvel comic series by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, Legion follows the trials and tribulations of David (Dan Stevens), a man believed to be schizophrenic who is actually a mutant. Recently, the series was given the good news of an extra episode on its sophmore season, for a total of 11. Now there is more good news…
One surprise this year was FX and Marvel’s partnership with Legion. The television show based on a relatively unknown X-Men-related character, Legion focused on mental illness under the guise of a superhero TV show. David Heller (Dan Stevens), an incredibly powerful mutant spent much of the first season coming to grips with his power, and the fact that he had the parasitic Shadow King (another equally powerful mutant played brilliantly by Aubrey Plaza) buried deep within his already fragile mind. The show gave us some great mind-tripping visuals, as well as an intriguing story.
FX is certainly pulling in some big talent for their new X-Men related television movie Legion with the announcement that the production has cast Dan Stevens (Downtown Abby), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), and Jean Smart (Fargo). They join Rachel Keller (Fargo) in a growing cast in writer and producer Noah Hawley‘s new project. What roles will they be playing? (more…)
In a world where a “tale as old as time” guarantees you a green light more than a tale as new as three seconds ago, it’s time to talk about the casting of Disney’s next effort, a live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. The animated version released by the company in 1991 was a special achievement technically, and by becoming the only animated movie so far to be nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award. But gold doesn’t matter to studios so much as green, and Beauty and the Beast made a lot of it, so if lighting can strike once, why not twice? Well, Disney has found its Beauty in Emma Watson, and now they’ve found a Beast, Dan Stevens. (more…)
