Danny McBride

This week started with news that Paramount was pulling its latest Friday the 13th movie from the schedule, and it now ends with the reveal that the Halloween reboot is going forward. Last year, it was announced that rights holder Miramax was teaming up with new House of Horror Blumhouse to reboot the vaunted slasher franchise, and it was coming with the approval and involvement of the man that started it all: John Carpenter. So now Miramax, Blumhouse and Carpenter have come to a decision, and they all agree, the best people to bring us the new phase of Halloween are the guys behind Pineapple Express. (more…)

Everyone can use a little pressure relief and for many, video games are the outlet to let off some steam after a long day in the trenches of real life. Activision recognizes this and used it in their latest Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare live action trailer featuring Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and the ever bad boy actor Danny McBride. Take a five-minute break from your hectic day to check out the video below. (more…)

Shooting continues for Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant and there’s some interesting insights into the production from Danny McBride (East Bound & Down, The End) who’s as yet unnamed character now has a job according to McBride latest comments about the project. Even more interesting for movie fans is McBride’s comments on the production’s set and practical effects. (more…)

Say what you want about Prometheus, but it had a pretty great cast that included Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and Idris Elba. That’s some raw talent right there, and why not, when you’re Ridley Scott you can recruit that kind of talent just as easily as a xenomorph tears apart a crew of space truckers. So in making Prometheus 2 Alien: Paradise Lost Alien: Covenant, you know that there are a lot of people who’d be willing to take Scott’s call, like Danny McBride, for example. Yes, the Eastbound and Down, Pineapple Express and This is the End star is the latest name attached to Covenant. (more…)

While we live in a world where any franchise follows the five second rule (and the 2008 TV reboot definitely landed butter side down*) it should come as no surprise that we are nearing another Knight Rider reboot. To be honest, we’ve known about this since last summer when the LA Times reported that Brad Copeland was tapped to give the buddie-buddie/car-mullet combo a fresh coat of paint, and it was assumed since Copeland (who has worked on Arrested Development) was in charge that this new Knight Rider would have a comedic take. Hey, it worked for 21 Jump Street right?

Well a casting rumor, and I stress, RUMOR floated across the internet about who could be cast in movie and well, it does look like they are joking. Please let them be joking. Hit the jump to see who could be your new Micheal Knight/KITT team. (more…)

We all knew that This is the End would be filled with inappropriately hysterical humor ranging from the usual pot smoking / drug use jokes to masturbation, and beyond. Now we’ve got a NSFW clip of what could be one of the funniest looks at what happens to a bunch of guys stuck in a house with no women at the end of the world.

When a movie stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel, and Danny McBride, the question isn’t will they talk about masturbation, it’s how quickly will they get to it. I’m already sold on seeing this movie in the theater with what I’ve already seen.

This Is the End hits theater screens June 12th.

The film follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside.  Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

If you watched the Red Band Trailer for This is the End you’ve seen Emma Watson pop in and threaten James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson with a gory axe induced death. Now we’ve got a clip of a slightly calmer Emma sharing her thoughts on what the heck is going on outside. Take a look and then we’ll discuss it below.

Zombies, that’s what Emma thinks. That ignores all the other crazy lights and sink holes and explosions happening around them though. What’s truly humorous about this scene is how the guys are reacting to Emma. Suddenly this “sausage fest” of an apocalypse has a new member and she, although disheveled and dirty is still drop dead gorgeous. I can’t wait to see those guys go nuts trying to garner her attention while the world ends around them.

Written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Super-Bad), This is the End is unsurprisingly just another one of a string of apocalypse comedies coming out. It’s the sheer amount of celebrities playing themselves in this cast that marks This is the End as a must see. There are going to be a ton of cameos including, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Mindy Kaling, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Martin Star, Kevin Hart, and Jason Trost.

This is the End hits theater screens on June 12th.

It all started back in 2007 with a short film Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jason Stone. The short stars Rogen and Jay Baruchel. It’s never been released to the public, but the trailer (Below) was put out and soon plans were made to convert it to the big screen.
Let’s start with the Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse trailer to give you the idea. There’s a great intro to the teaser by Seth and James Franco that’s worth a look by itself.

There’s lots more stars added to the mix for the big screen version though, Seth Rogen, Emma Watson, Jonah Hill, Rihanna, Craig Robinson, James Franco and Jay Baruchel. The movie looks like a lot of fun with the actors playing themselves.

What did you think? I’m putting this on my list of movies to check out in 2013.

If there’s a secret to making a good spoof movie, it lies somewhere in finding a way to deliver the same good the films you’re spoofing did. A war spoof has to have choice explosions. A horror spoof has to have a suitably creepy setting. And a fantasy spoof like Your Highness needs to have all those things that make an epic fantasy fun: swordfights, creatures, sweeping visuals and a general sense of heroism and daring.

Your Highness has some of these things, but what makes it a misstep is not what it lacks, but what it has too much of: overly crude, repetitive jokes, cursing for cursing’s sake (the kind that isn’t funny, just there because they couldn’t think of anything else to say) and the kind of derivative plot that makes you wonder if they stole it from a junior high school student’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook.

Finally a red band trailer that really delivers. The last red band trailer I looked at for Paul made me wonder why the powers that be even bothered making one. Your Highness at least brought it with the Nymph “Booby trap” gag. I was sure I would only be seeing Your Highness for the scene shot below.

It seems that Natalie is ready to have some fun, even if it’s at her expense. I am hoping that we have seen most of the masturbation gags already and there are more inside fantasy story jokes to be had. I love a good balls or masturbation joke as the next 12 year old but as demonstrated by Transformers II there is a limit.

The film has a “Want to see” of 86 rating over at Rotten Tomatoes today, the movie opens April 8th starring Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, and Zooey Deschanel.

Check out the red band trailer for Your Highness below, NSFW because of booby traps and such.
