On February 13th, writer and director Jonah Feingold launched a Kickstarter to fund a prequel movie to the Robin Williams classic Hook. It planned to tell the story of Rufio, who had become the leader of the Lost Boys by the time the adult Peter Pan returned to Neverland. It would shed light on a part of his story that was a mystery in the original movie – how he came to Neverland, what qualified him to be in charge, what life might have held for him if he hadn’t become the Pan. As both a sequel and a standalone movie, Hook has a solid reputation as a piece of cinema history. Boasting a cast including Maggie Smith, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman as the titular Captain Hook and the legendary Robin Williams as an aged and boring Peter Pan, it told the story of life after Neverland. Peter was grown, married to Wendy’s daughter Moira and had become another regular adult, the magic of Neverland lost to his childhood, a disappointment to his own children who never new the Peter that the Lost Boys loved.
