When the it was first announced that The Punisher would be coming to Netflix in April 2016, it heralded a full embrace of the darker side of Marvel onscreen. Although other more mature shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have already proven popular for their gritty portrayal of super-heroism in the dark unberbellies of realistically crime-riddled cities, The Punisher promises to plunge into ever darker depths. It will revolve around a hero who has no qualms about killing bad guys, who mows down villains with his trusty machine gun and hardly loses a wink of sleep. (more…)
