As most of you know, San Diego Comic-Con is coming up next month (July 21st-25th). It should go with out saying but the convention is the biggest annual showcase for comic books, science fiction/fantasy, film/television and other related popular arts. A media mecca and nerd paradise.
As another year of nerdy goodness comes are way so does a slew of new and exciting “Con” exclusives. It’s always been a staple for attendees to walk a way with a collectible to commemorate the prime time geek event. Toys, comics and a plethora of other swag, exclusive to the event, is to be had by all who attend.
News regarding what exclusives are to be available is slowly pouring in. Though, right now Diamond Comic Distributors, has announced what comic-books will get to see and get!
Click after the jump for a rundown from the Diamond news release about the 9 exclusive comics, with variant covers, that will be limited to 2,000-3,000 copies.
Chew #3 Cover Art
Megan is away this week folks, so you’re temporarily stuck with me. I don’t personally read as much, but I’ll do what I can seeing as how I work at the best comic book store in New England.
Every Monday, Diamond Comics (via PREVIEWSworld.com) publishes a list of comics, graphic novels, toys and other pop-culture merchandise to arrive that week to your local comic retailer or pop-culture emporieum.
As always, be sure to check with your local retailer for pricing and availability.
This is a big week too. Pay special attention to Amazing Spiderman as Mary Jane is slated to return and Captain America Reborn has been a really hot title. In addition, Chew has been selling like wildfire and while I haven’t read it personally, TJ Collectibles subscibers have raved about it! I’m personally excited for Star Wars: Dark Times. One can never have enough Jedi running around with colorful glowing swords. Enjoy!
I will post a disclaimer here: despite what Diamond says on Monday, not all of this stuff ships on Wednesday. Comics are on time (Wednesday in North America, Thursday in Europe) this week.
It looks like a light week. I’ve put a few comments here and there. Mind you, I haven’t read this comics yet, I’m just speculating and being judgmental. 🙂
The big news this week is BLACKEST NIGHT #1. Per DC’s website:
Written by Geoff Johns; Art and cover by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert; Variant cover by Ethan Van Sciver;Sketch variant cover by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert
Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis raise the dead in the most anticipated comics story of the year! Throughout the decades, death has plagued the DC Universe and taken the lives of heroes and villains alike. But to what end? As the War of Light rages on, the prophecy of the Blackest Night descends upon us, with Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps at the center of it all.
Don’t miss this 8-issue epic taking the DCU beyond the grave!
